Greenland
« on: 21 August 2019, 14:01:00 »

So Trump mooted the idea of buying Greenland from Denmark the other day, but Greenland said no, as did Denmark and some of their politicians weren't particularly diplomatic, one Tweeting that the idea was 'absurd'!  :)

Now it seems that Trump has got the right old hump about it all and has cancelled a state visit to Denmark before going to the G7 shindig in Biarritz.  :D

What a knob!  ;D

Of course there may be other things going on behind the scenes that we don't know about.....  :-\  ::)

Of course there are. But it doesn't matter because Trump has the attention span of a goldfish.

I think those reasons are quite in the open.

The fact that the US Thule Air Base in Greenland is home to the 21st Space Wing's global network of sensors providing missile warning, space surveillance and space control to North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) is the big giveaway on that one . Back in Cold War days it was also a Strategic Air Command Base, and Greenlands  importance has not declined since. So it's importance is clear during these times of increasing tension between Russia and America. ;)

I think 'The Donald' has it about right when it comes to women but there is certainly an element of the petulant child to his personality. :)

Not sure if the sale of the US to Russia at a bargain price by Trump will happen before or after 2020 election as it looks like Trump being King of Greenland is now off the menu. ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D

Whenever Putin is on this travels for international conferences etc & the country he is visiting customs control & go through the standard questions: When they ask occupation? He retorts, it's okay I'm only visiting this time! ;D

The USA tried to buy it before for 100 million dollars.

It is rich with unexploited minerals.

It would be a great place to have a naval base to further control the North Atlantic

The economy is dire. High unemployment, alcoholism and so on.

Where he went wrong is the bull in a china shop diplomacy ( in other words none). Everything has a price. Maybe Boris will be able to sell Northern Ireland ( less Belfast of course) to the Yanks for £ 1.5 trillion when the trade talks founder over US support for the IRA and hard border nonsense.

Donald will just ignore Congress and do a deal with us anyway. He's well on his way to being Putin.
