I remember you saying that auto aid was a PITA Nick, other OOFers have said it's good,
15 miles with RAC would get me(or more importantly Mrs Builder) off the motorway and out of danger.
I should look at the bank account cover, to see what that covers
This is ours, Dave, with Barclays:

https://www.barclays.co.uk/insurance/travel-insurance/travel-pack/
Thanks Uncle Stemo  :)
you prompted me to google (Lloyds platinum)
AA Roadside Assistance, relay and homestart and accident Management

Having been with the AA most of my motoring life I would highly recommend that package Dave.

The only time I was with another breakdown provider, the RAC, when the new company Carlton came with the membership, they let me down after the cam belt went prematurely.

Another time, when I was with the AA my first Omega broke down in Manchester and for some reason Green Flag got involved at the request of the AA.  It was a nightmare, until the AA took the job back on and relayed us all back over 100 miles. The AA agreed to refund my membership costs, plus give compensation, for the initial poor service.  Apart from that, every time I have needed the AA over 40 years they have been great! :y

I've got the same bank account cover as you dtb.I used to pay separately for AA cover for many years before this bank account idea came about,so when I renew my car insurance I always decline the breakdown and courtesy car extra cost options.I'll have to look into multi car insurance prices rather than having three separate policies to see which works out cheapest.

How is the new Volvo Mr Baza ?

The only time in over 30 years in driving, I needed recovery was 20+ years ago(en route to a camping holiday, car full of family and gear) in a volvo 340 ,torque tube let go , not the sort of job to do at the roadside , pushed it 100 yards into a services.
I went to a petrol station, got the yellow pages, phoned a local company who dropped us at a local pub with camping facilities  :) took the volvo ,sourced the part, fixed it and dropped it back the same day .  :)
 that's what I call service  ;D

Is that a Vauxhall Diplomat at the front of the row Dave?  The wheels seem to be from one, but I am confused by the "CD" badge, as that model was usually "Diplomat" as there was on the boot lid edge ;)

Good eye/memory Lizzie  :)
they are Diplomat wheels  :y
on what was my daily drive until exactly one year ago today  ;)
A late facelift Carlton 2.0 CDi with all the pedals  8)
I fitted Diplomat wheels because they are easy to keep clean  ;D
unlike the CDi cross spokes ,which the new owner of My Carlton has (stayed with the car as he was a collector), plus a set of wolfrace alloys

My collection of "dippy" wheels went to another Carlton enthusiast, who had steel wheeled Carlton Diesel , also a daily driver  :)

New Volvo is absolutely fine thank you.Surprisingly sprightly for a big car and handles the twisty bits pretty well too.Oddly the one thing I miss on it[both the V70 and Omega have one]is a trip computer :-[ The V70 still looking like a shed[at least it was at the end of March when I "borrowed" it back from stepdaughter-the saga of her Meriva continues :o]continues to provide sterling service-I hope :D and the Omega resides in it's garage awaiting my having the time to sort its present running issue :'(
