Omega General Help / headlight casings
« on: 08 July 2016, 13:23:43 »
Is it possible to convert " normal headlights" i.e. GLS to Xenon/HID etc ?????  I have two very clear GLS ones with intact adjusters so wondered if they would be of use to Elite owners

Omega General Help / Lambda signal
« on: 08 June 2016, 20:13:29 »
Going to have a look at Tony H's 2.5 tomorrow to see if I can decipher whats causing the misfire, I honestly think it's the 6 yr old DIS pack but as he's had it scanned previously and a lambda code came up I thought it was worth having a look with my reader. What's the expected voltage range should I see it switching between if the sensor is healthy ?

General Car Chat / Scirocco refurb finished
« on: 11 April 2016, 21:42:50 »
After many, many hours graft the scirocco I bought a few weeks ago is now finished. Excuse the massive photo's as they are lifted from the for sale ad. This thing was a dog when I got it and some bit's were very hard to find, interior was removed completely and deep cleaned, loads of mechanical work and dear god the paintwork took ages. Looks pretty good now doesn't it   :)

Omega General Help / Rear caliper pins
« on: 08 April 2016, 13:14:47 »
Had a look at one of our old members mig as it needs new pads on the back, for a start the 2 pins look different as there is no " nobbly end " where they sit in the recess on the back of the caliper, could they have just rotted away ?

The pins that are in are well mullered and wouldn't shift with the tools I had at the time so I have bought a new center punch to have a go at them over the weekend. Is there just one type of pin across the range?   I have a spare set of rear calipers with decent pins should it come to that.

General Car Chat / Old vaux carb wanted, longshot
« on: 22 March 2016, 21:51:01 »
Longshot but i'm rebuilding my old VW Scirocco and am having some carb issues, it's a Pierburg 2E2 that was also fitted to a fair few old Vaux's astras and cavaliers and it's the autochoke mechanism giving me jib.

I'm being a total mingebag due to the parts being outrageously expensive so if anyone has one knocking around in a shed give me a shout as it would be put to good use  :y

General Car Chat / Bought an old Scirocco
« on: 12 March 2016, 22:00:30 »
Heard of an old VW Scirocco that was languishing as it's owner passed away 6 months ago and was put in touch with his wife who was happy for me to take it on at a reasonable price. It's got water in the cabin which is getting sorted first then a major polishing session. Surprised how well it drives to be honest and is quite nippy, anyone a fan of these ?

General Discussion Area / Hoverboards ?
« on: 18 November 2015, 19:47:16 »
So the same conversation happens every Christmas with little omegod and I actually have an answer this year...a hoverboard ...to be fair I think she would use it a lot so don't mind spending a few quid on one. I know nothing about them and internet reviews of the different types seem to be written by the makers so not much use and there's plenty of low quality crap floating round ebay and amazon

Does anyone's kids or grandkids have one that's proved reliable and not set the house on fire when charging, if so what type or brand was it ?
