Mrs TB and I put the radiator on TBE that I ordered on Sunday, along with new bonnet struts, also ordered on Sunday.

Bless her, she did well, holding wires out of the way, and holding the torch once it got dark ;D

Need to fit the battery tomorrow, started to get a bit nippy this evening ;D

This morning I finished checking it over for MOT tomorrow. Fitted new front pads (which included freeing a seized slider), cleaned up and Waxoiled the inner wings too in the hope it will see another few years.

Also remembered I'd forgotten to replenish my stock of 501 Capless bulbs ::) Oh well, gives him something to spot ;D

Replaced the two micro switches in one of my front door, central locking solenoid using the excellent write up by Kevin Wood in the "Maintenance Guides"

Will fit it tomorrow to see if that has cured it's random operation?

One side of the car back together. Tracking needs tweaking before I do the other side, and all the torques rechecking, but drives ok with no more clonking 8)

Only things which didn't go to plan: Needs a new wheel bearing due to a cross threaded wheel bolt, went with the bearing attached to the replacement carrier as it was quieter than the original one ::)

As there are 5 wheel bolts, have you considered running a tap through the crossed one to see if it cleans up? It's M12x1.5 if that helps

The thought had crossed my mind ;) Both offside bearings have been replaced, and have the nearside rear one in stock ready to fit when required, so replacement makes better longterm sense...

Well that's tother side done... just need a new splash guard as it didn't respond well to abject violence popping the ball joints ::)

Tracking needs a tweak as it toes out slightly... turn in is a little too eager, but it tracks straight and doesn't pull when you stand on the brakes, so I call that done :D

She's a better assistant than SWMBO thats for sure. She'll hold the torch for me, then after a bit get bored and start using it to look around the engine bay!  ::)

Tweaked the tracking... much better.

Then thought about washing it. Might swing by the Albanians in the morning. Then again, I might not ::)

Weather much better today (Saturday) so I decided to fit my "repaired" central locking solenoid.

It now works as it should so it is well worth spending a few pounds replacing those pesky micro-switches. :y

Tried to do oil and cambelt on SWMBO's diseasel Galaxy. With the help of my 2 year old apprentice it took all morning to do oil & filter (& 4 nappy changes).

Sacked the apprentice at lunch time and moved on to the cambelt. Found that every bolt on the drivers side engine mount is a bstard bolt because the engine is too close to the chassis rail to get a socket on. Undid them all with a combination of ring spanners and cursing.

Reached an impasse trying to undo the bolts holding the crank pulley/damper. They shouldn't be very tight but in my attempts to shift them the engine began turning backwards  >:(  It started raining as well so I gave up and went indoors  :(
