Skip Hire
« on: 17 May 2018, 16:57:16 »

Has gone up massively since I last hired a skip, probably 5/6 years ago..... :(

I think the cost of the last skip was around £130.....

Ive just paid £265 for a 6 yard skip  :o That doesnt include a road license either....

Phoning about other companies were much the same price....

What are skip prices in your area like ??

That's about right, all to do with landfill tax,, if it's 100% builders rubble will be cheaper as that's recycled, waste goes straight in the ground.

Just get some caravan dwellers to do it for £100.

yes , landfill tax  :y
always good to recycle if possible
offer stuff free to collector
if your excavating soil etc , can it go elsewhere on the site to build up the ground  :-\
(max 300mm increase in height or it becomes a bill from the council instead (change of level, planning, building regs)

The skip company I am using claim they recycle approx. 95% of what goes in the skip....

Its 50 years of accumulated junk.....out of my mums and dads bungalow.....not that they were hoarders, just never threw anything away...the contents of the garage and shed will fill that skip I imagine.....more skips needs for the bungalow.....

We paid £190 all up for our last one (autumn 2017). I think that was a 6 yard one. In any event it was the largest one they would let me put rubble in.

We packed that fu£ker so tight it nearly stood the lorry on its ar$e  ;D

I moved home and office a few years ago. 30 years of tat, but a lot of it useful tat. I tried the above, just so many time wasters, and such a lot of effort, just not worth it. And, I was short of time. The dump was a 5 minute drive . . . . I tried offering free office desks, I ended up buying a cheap electric saw and just hacking them to bits. Loads of Dexion shelving, all sorts. Anyone who enquired just made matters so complicated. It all went down the dump  ::)

That's always been my experience. Even giving stuff away is only realistic if you already know someone who wants it and you deliver it. Otherwise you end up dealing with a never ending stream of windowlickers, none of whom actually collect your stuff. The piles of random junk you've been hoarding for 20 years is just that: junk.
