Title: Part 90467543
Post by: addy on 05 June 2018, 20:26:19
I was wandering, I know Vauxhall don't sell this part anymore, but searching on Google it came up with the same part for Saab. Has anyone tried local Saab dealer to see if it is the same part and if it is available for sale?  I read on the old forum pages about someone suggested using a rubber O ring in its place, has anyone tried it and if so does it work, if it does what size O ring is needed?

That's the fabled top hat seal ;)

A regular o ring won't work... It is a common GM V6  part and readily available, just not from VX ;)

That's the one, I have tried looking but cannot seem to find it anywhere. :'( Thanks for the info about the O ring.

You can buy it from the US for about a fiver ;)

With a bit of luck it should be just a case of carefully remove, clean and re-instate the seal onto the cleaned bridge. The problem will be blocked tubes in the breather bridge, not this seal unless maybe it's damaged.

That said, all of a sudden, it seems to be very hard to get. I'd swear they were easily available last year.
The SAAB version should be the same and also seems to be very scarce.

Part number comes up as" gasket,PCV vent tube adap".-that's according to my son who's looked it up over in the USA.

That's what it said when I looked, but  it is shown as the proper part. Most of the sites show it as fitting the Catera.

That's because that's what that part is called. Technically  :y

Yep,wasn't questioning whether it was the correct item, just pointing out that's what it's listed as in case anyone got confused by the description and thought it might be a different part. :y

This is a bit disconcerting. A common part used on a British manufactured series of engines installed in more than one model of European made vehicle and it seems there are none to be had in the UK or Germany. We're having to scrabble around in the USA, where the part is even more obsolete than it is here. So presumably there is limited stock, if indeed there are any at all, since they probably originate here in the first place. In 35 years of Opel / Vauxhall cars I've never experienced such difficulty.

That's how it goes when you run obsolete cars.
Workarounds for the part in question are hardly difficult

The engine is used in four times as many US GM products than it is in Omegas ;)

When I e-mailed my son about these it was a matter of mere minutes before he replied with the part description and the fact that they're easily obtained over in USA,he's even sending me a couple.
