Omega General Help / Re: dti vp44 PSG5 fuel pump differences
« on: 31 March 2022, 16:29:53 »
A new pump is out of the question given the prices, nothing is available for a reasonable price. I've had the mosfet repaired but that repair does not seem to last long, it appears there is also a physical problem with the pump that causes the mosfet to burn out. I'm having a last ditch attempt to repair it otherwise its going to the graveyard unfortunately, its a very useful car when working :(

I've lost count the amount of times I've replaced fuel pumps on this car, fair enough they have been second hand ones, even with a lift pump fitted still don't seem to last long. I appreciate the input but the question still hasnt beem answered, do the pump numbers correlate to any differences in the pump that anyone knows of? just put a replacement pump in met with a p1651 fml

Many thanks

Omega General Help / 2.2 dti engine conversion to bmw 2.5 tds
« on: 18 January 2022, 03:02:17 »
Hi,

I've got an omega estate which i dont want to scrap/sell with the 2.2 dti engine, I've had nothing but trouble with the fueling system, yet another pump has died, i've wired in a pre supply pump thinking it'd help it along, this is the 5th pump i've put on it, not getting bored of this.

I managed to find a 2.5 tds engine complete from a e39 with most of the bits, I need some help please before i give into this project

IDoes the 2.5 tds engine bolt up to the existing 5 spd manual gearbox?

Does the existing pedal assy work?

Any other input welcome,i have a saab 9-5 estate doesnt compare to the omega, I'd much rather get that back on the road

Thanks for any help

Omega General Help / dti clutch / transmission problems
« on: 24 April 2019, 19:43:10 »
Hi i hope someone can help me out with this one.

Last year i got asked to pick up a friend it was on one of them a frame towing dollys, I towed the car no problem but i had an issue reversing it into a tight spot, the wheels didnt lock on and I couldnt see, after a burning clutch smell I just backed off and un hitched, the car would no longer go into any gears whilst the engine was running, and when the engine was off it did go into gear but it didnt feel the same as before, getting it into first gear, the gear stick was much closer to the stereo than before

I limped the car to a mates garage which was only a mile away shutting the engine off at any stops as it would not come out of gear with the engine running.

We got the box off and it looked like the pressure plate had sustained some damage, so got a new luk clutch kit, the flywheel seemed fine as I stripped an omega dti a fews years back and it felt rxactly the same as that, put everything back together and it eas doing the exact same thing.

Box cones out again, we thought it was the slave cylinder not depressing the clutch enough, so we changed that for a new one, still same problem.

The car has been parked up for four months now and i desperetely need it back on the road. My question is, has anyone had any similar problem to this? How did you fix it?
Is there a special method of setting the pressure plate up before the clutch goes in? Thanks for reading, any help greatly appreciated

Omega General Help / vacuum wiring 2.2 dti
« on: 22 August 2018, 10:49:55 »
Hi, I've just fitted a replacement fuel pump on my 2.2 dti estate, I took apart the vacuum wiring on the right hand side of the engine, now I'm lost when it comes to putting it back :(

There is a small vac outlet at the back of the vac pump where does that go?

I'm really stuck with this.
