Hyundai non start
« on: 12 September 2017, 11:34:27 »

trying to help out a neighbour with his 04 getz 1.3.
it turns over but wont fire up,I've checked the fuel supply to the rail and it's not getting any.The fuel pump is working when connected direct to 12v but not when the ign. is switched/cranked.
I'm thinking an immobiliser fault as it seems a common on hyundai's of that era to bypass the block connector and solder the wires directly together.(high resistance)
Another thing is when I connect my ODB2 adapter you can hear it trying to connect(noises from fuse/relay box under bonnet) but then gets kicked out with no communication with the ecu.(worked before on it when clearing a spurious management code)
Anyone else have any thoughts.
Cheers John.

Sounds to me like the ECU itself isn't getting any power. that would explain why it's not switching the fuel pump.

All fuses checked OK,pump relay OK reset the inertia switch just in case
Was running fine when parked up then went to use next day and wouldn't start. :y

Maybe duff crank sensor or similar, cheap code reader should read engine ecu, also assuming cam belt is still on it :-X ::)

bit of an update,we now have fuel but still just cranking over and not even trying to start.
next suspect is crank sensor? but what's nagging at me is my odb2 scanner still isn't communicating with the ecu and if it is a just a sensor fault of some sort shouldn't it connect ok and post an error code?
Cheers John.

It is compliant and I have successfully cleared codes on this vehicle before, which is what's puzzling me.All fuses pulled and checked. :y

Are all the pins on the plug still present and correct?
