Omega General Help / Coolant problem.
« on: 14 January 2020, 20:15:08 »
I need help !
I've got a 2.2 CD (Z22XE).
Had timing belt done, New water pump, new thermostat and new radiator.
There are no leaks that can be seen anywhere.
However, i'm having to refill the coolant bottle EVERY WEEK when i get the check coolant level warning.
I've had a pressure test done on it and that's coming back fine.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to where my coolant could be going.

Thanks
STeve

Omega General Help / Coolant expansion tank
« on: 18 June 2018, 11:58:59 »
I'm trying to work out how the coolant expansion tank on my 2.2 yx22e is secured to the car, before i decide whether swapping it out as the sensor is buggered is a job for me or a mechanic :-)

Can anyone give me any tips?

Omega General Help / Flushing Heater Matrix
« on: 06 March 2018, 20:25:33 »
I'm planning to flush my heater matrix on my 2.2 Petrol Omega.
I've got all the stuff suggested, ie hoses etc
I've read the articles in the maintanance section, but notice that after looking at numerous how to vids on youtube, they all suggest using 5/8" hose - (granted, they are all US vids).
The only hoses I have come across over here are 1/2" which i have 2 of.
Will this fit onto the connections to the matrix?
I don't want to start this and then find my hose won't fit.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Omega General Help / Dash Temp Gauge not working - HELP !!
« on: 08 April 2016, 17:47:55 »
My dash temp gauge has stopped working.

The car is running fine, so I'm assuming that the connector has come off the dashboard sensor and not the ecu sensor, as it was working until a friend was fiddling under the bonnet.

Does anyone have a diagram or pic of the general vicinity of where i can find the sensor.

I know it is at the back of the engine on the right, but need to know if there are any helpful landmarks to help me find the said sensor.

Engine is Z22XE.

Any help will be gratefully received.

Omega General Help / Fault Codes
« on: 31 March 2016, 15:20:57 »
Due to having a camshaft seize up, I've had to have a replacement engine fitted to my 2003 2.2 petrol Omega (Z22XE) by my regular mechanic.

However, the following codes are being generated:

P0700
P0743
P1781

I can see that they are to do with the transmission, but I would appreciate some advice as to what may have caused these codes and how to get rid of them.
ie, is it something that just has to be allowed to "bed in" due to the replacement engine and will clear in time, or will something have to be done to clear them.
Also, will it cause problems actually driving the car whilst these codes are present.

TIA

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Pioneer mvh-180ubg
« on: 17 September 2015, 00:42:45 »
Can anyone help.....

I'm contemplating sticking a  Pioneer mvh-180ubg into my 2003 2.2 CD and was wondering whether it will output anything to the MID.

I've seen that an autoleads connector will plug into the back for the steering wheels controls, but can't see anything for the display.
Regarding this, the manual is totally useless!

TIA

I had to take the speedo/instrument panel out to replace a couple of blown bulbs,
but now that it's all back in place, the bulbs all now work, but now, the mid, speedo, rev counter and guages are not working.
The connector behind the mid seems to be fully seated and locked in place, and as far as I can tell, the whole unit is fully seated.
Would I be correct in thinking that the speedo etc are fed via the connections directly behing the dials?

Any suggestions will be gratefully received...... otherwise.....

HELP !!!!!! :-)

Omega General Help / Exhaust Query (another one )
« on: 13 June 2013, 00:41:54 »
I have a 2003 Omega - 2.2 CD (Y22XE) which is in need of a new front pipe with cat. (It seems that it is blowing from the flexible mesh bit after the cat)
As you can probably tell from that description, i'm not too mechanically minded regarding cars  ;)

Can anyone recommend a decent make to use, and where to get it from (preferably not too far from Blackpool)
coz i don't particularly want to pay the £825.00 + vat which was quoted to me by my local dealer (trade club price)

Omega General Help / HBV ***Possible silly Question alert***
« on: 25 October 2012, 13:09:03 »
This may be a silly question, but what is the purpose of the Heater Bypass Valve?

Reason I ask, i've got a 2003 2.2CD and had my HBV replace about 9 mths ago after the dreaded leaking.

Was chatting with my neighbour who has a 2001 2.2CDX, who told me he had just had the same problem - however he had not had a new valve installed. Instead he had just taken the old valve out and replaced it with some "T" pieces to join the pipework.

Will this cause him and problems?

Omega General Help / Another oil pressure and lifter/tappets question
« on: 03 September 2012, 17:08:27 »
I have a 2.2 2004 Omega - z22xe to be exact and when the engine is cold, it makes quite a noise, tapping, which i'm assuming is the hydraulic lifters.
after about 10-20 secs this noise stops and the engine runs normally.

I have been told that this is because the oil is draining down away from the top of the engine when it's left for a period of time, which could possibly be caused by the oil pressure relief valve sticking.

Does anyone have any opinions on this theory, and if in agreement, could anyone tell me where this said valve is located and if it's an easy/awkward job to replace.

Many thanks in anticipation

Steve

A question regarding the Climate control panel on a 2003 facelift, or more specifically, the dark perspex strip across the top with all of the various symbols and temperature displays behind.

Is it possible to remove this strip from the dash to clean it, as for some reason (and this has been like this since i got the car 3 years ago) the central portion of the display has a rather blured look to it.
Symbols showing through the plastic are not clear, almost as if something was sprayed onto it but not wiped off.

Any advise would be appreciated

cheers

Omega General Help / Front passenger door problem
« on: 19 February 2009, 18:46:51 »
I have a problem with my central locking on my 2003 CD saloon.

Opened the car as usual this morning without any problem and drove off with my passenger.
Went to leave the car and front passenger door wouldn't open. The button on the door was down and wouldn't come up no matter what we did. Passenger ended up climbing out the drivers door !

When using the remote for the central locking, the button looks like it's trying to come up and unlock, but something seems to be stopping it, as it is moving slightly.

The problem is that, I assume to get at the mechanism inside, the door panel inside needs to come off, but can this be removed with the door closed, and if not....anyone got any suggestions.

Regards

Steve
