Swar at it a few times…

Need to nip out to B&Q. Pressed the ‘unlock button’ on the fob, and the central locking only JUST managed to open the doors… Opened the drivers door and looked at the interior light… Nothing, dead – wasn’t even glowing dimly. Used the car less than 5 days ago – was fine then.

Anyway, thanks to Ray (also a member on here – hence how I met him) gave me an old battery jumper pack thing last week. He said it all worked find apart from the air compressor. And he was right, I had the mig up and running in less than a minuet!  :y Thanks Ray  :y

I was VERY surprised that the jumper pack could start the Omega as it was a lot smaller than most jump models I’ve seen before (Its only got a 12v 10ah SLA Battery inside!!!). :o

Anyway, I’m now wondering why the battery has gone that flat. Especially since there’s also a second car battery in the boot (wired in parallel). Only thing I can think of, is that the PC in the boot must of somehow turned itself on. Hasn’t done this before though in the last year or so.

Oh well, never mind! I will stick it on charge all day tomorrow, and have a look.

How's this second battery wired? Like a caravan's leisure battery ie only connected when the engine is running via a split charge relay or hard wired together?

Both of mine (the silver ornament and the silver slug).

Feeling slightly more positive today as I know i'd hate whatever I bought to replace them and having a spare car is very useful.

Hard wired together. So if PC did turn itself on somehow, even though it is powered by the rear battery, it would still drain the main battery  :(

I plan on adding a relay in the boot which will disconnect the link between the batterys when the engine is switched off... Eventually...

Fitted set of Cat's to the Black Beastie kindly sorted by Albs.
Managed to get it done just before the rain started. :)
No probs and sorted out the car nicely.  :y

Just need to find where the oil leak is coming from now  :(
Running down from above the oil filter towards the back, so possibly cam cover. Will have to have a further look to confirm.

Glad your car is all sorted Tony. I changed the centre tie rod on mine today (failed MOT on it last week) and noticed an identical leak on mine. Had previously noticed some oil on manifold heat shield, so assuming camcover gasket. I got a genuine set (for one bank) from ebay a couple of weeks ago for just over a fiver. :)
