Title: Brackley Meet May 2019 photos
Post by: ianu on 06 May 2019, 21:12:36
Here you go everyone, sorry if I missed anyone, I think a couple of you left before I finally got the camera out.
Great to see you all again - it's been a while and thank you to Tony and all your family for your hospitality and arranging such a great replacement for the Wycombe meets you made such a  success too - thank you  :y :y
Anyway as we all know what Omegas look like, here's a few moody angles  >:( and I'll confess to a couple of tweaks with a filter on a few  8)....I think I managed to hide most of the wheel arch issues that were  ::) ::) :-[

Thanks for posting the pictures, and I'm sorry I missed it. Next target is VBOA, I hope to be there either with you guys or ABS, maybe both!  BTW I spotted the bonnet bulged Estate heading south on the A34 as we were coming home, it's got some presence on the road. My question is, what's under the bonnet, I can't tell from the pictures, is it a V8?

No Problerm.
That will have been RobsyMV6 - 5.7 V8 LS1 supercharged  :o. There's also a picture on the other thread  :)

Thanks for the nice pictures, Ian. The "rust filter" you have passed them through seems to have done its job. :y

Thanks for the explanation.
Sadly I've realised that VBOA clashes with family holiday :( So I've bought a car hoping to attend more club meets, and it looks as though I'll miss them all...

So the drone was used for photography, and it was yours! Excellent shot, especially if it's a frame from a video sequence! It demonstrates how much progress has been made in this field. Health and safety regulations must restrict where you can fly them, your shot is taken from above the bank.

Really sorry I missed this :'( If mine had been there you'd have needed more than a rust filter to tidy it up :D Great pictures :y Is the white ring dangling from the rear of the Nissan there so it can be hung from a hook on the wall when you get home? or if you pull it does it inflate to a proper sized car? ;D ;D ;D

hopefully ,there will be another meet later in the year
as for "rust" i think mine was the newest reg to go to the meet but it's still a 16 year old rusty vauxhall  ;D go look at 10 year old ford focus rust or the sills of a matiz  :o

it's a towing eye to quickly hook up and drag such race cars off the race track in event of mechanical failure or crash  :y

the Micra was in great shape considering its 27  :-\ years old , a credit to it's owner  :)

Yep, unfortunately, what the "3.0 V6" badge hides, the burble from the exhausts gives away. ;D

Should have brought my GoPro to video the "test drive". ;D

Ah.. On second thoughts, though. :-X

Yes in all seriousness the Nissan does look to be in terrific condition especially given how many of those were kept at the time :y

Thanks - there are a few subtle similarities, but it was all about the Omega - it'd be rude to dominate wouldn't it  ::)

Its not a still photo, its a frame from a video stream from a Runcam-HD (Go-Pro type action cam, only shaped more suitably for this application) - the silver box strapped to the top front on in Ianu's picture of it.  The actual onboard camera used for FPV flying is much lower quality (both in actual spec, and the end result), so grabbing frames from that is less clear, plus it has all the telemetry data splashed all over it.  If I'd remembered to take the lens cap off that camera (I was "doing a Terbs" and forgot), I could show you the side by side differences.

so, not an off the shelf toy then,
you've been adding extra parts etc

and crashes them  ;D

That one is a custom build, based on a Team Blacksheep Source One 7" frame and running iNav.  Thus hopeless for racing. Its more of a mid range easy flyer.  I'd guessed some people would want a go with it, so I brought the easiest to fly :), even if the gusty nature of the wind that day was causing a lot of buffeting.

One of the many others I have is a 5" with faster motors, running Betaflight.  Flat out, that's beyond my limits of flying - you can get in a whole lot of trouble in incredibly short periods of time...   ...racing quads needs the reactions of a teenager, and in my case, not helped by being prone to motion sickness, or my inability to stay standing when I have the goggles on ;D

Very clear image quality, given the height.  :y

I used to help my son build those fast RC cars when he belonged to a RC club. When I had a go with them, the RC car going away from you was easy to control, as left is left and right is right. However, when it's coming back towards you, things can get messy.   ::)

I used to do cars - mostly offroad electric, but some offroad nitro - back in the Kyosho Optima and Schumacher CAT days, and was a committee member of the Aylesbury off road club.  I used to enjoy the racing, but often missed my heats, due to either having to do the counting, or helping some of the younger members.  I eventually slowly gave it up, as to remain competitive meant a fortune on batteries and motors every 2 or 3 weeks.  I still keep in touch with some of the other guys who used to run it.

I still had most of my old cars and gear up until the garage incident.
