Hope the new car serves you well Seth :y

Give my love to the lovely, long suffering Mrs "Aberystwyth" Seth  :-*

Aaaah ... Brakkers ... Good to hear from you, dear boy!  :D

Aithough it was a difficult decision to part with our TD; it's new owner's absolutely delighted with it and Mrs Seth feels the same about it's replacement. An added bonus is it's surprisingly frugal fuel consumption.

Best wishes to the TBs from The Valleys   :y

PS: 'Aberystwyth' to you 'un all butt!   ;D

So ..... what's your new tow car Byron?  ;)

It's a Kia Sorento, Andy.

Am hoping that my good friend Mr Entwood'll post-up a(nother) photie!

Our well cared-for TD Estate departed for pastures new today after years of sterling service.
It's taken us everywhere in comfort, been lovingly maintained and utterly reliable.

Mrs Seth's now retired and I'm semi-retired, so the decision to part with the best-ever car that we've owned hasn't been an easy one. My present health situation can make fettling our trusty steed quite difficult for me. However, it's gone to another good home here in The Valleys with a colleague of mine and a complete body refurb is about to begin. Entwood's kindly agreed to post a photo, so thanks Nige!

So take care all you OOFers out there. Hopefully, we'll see you on our travels!

Now ... Someone's bound to ask what's replaced it on caravan-towing duties ...

I don't know how others feel, but I'm completely with the unions on this one. Apart from the safety issues reference closing the doors, I don't think the unions are making enough of passenger safety during the journey. If there is a problem on board, who can be contacted to raise the alarm? Women already feel vulnerable, how will this help?
And, surely, it must be a fare dodgers dream come true.

Fair play, you've pretty well hit the nail on the head here STEMO.

I don't frequent OOF very often these days ... and note that the (misinformed) keyboard warriors remain alive. Nowt changes ... it would seem!

DLR (Docklands Light Railway) carried 110.2 MILLION** passengers last year without any such problems, so, if they can do it why can't other systems ... simply just unions and "jobs for the boys" .. they couldn't actually give a s*** about passengers who they simply see as a bargaining chip .... IMHO

It's purely your 'humble opinion' ... end of. Reality is otherwise.

The current disputes have nothing what-so-ever to do with safety or working conditions

Whilst I'm unaware of any threat to your own employment, I'm fully aware of your misinformed belief here.

I'm wondering ... what vocational experience/qualifications do you hold to substantiate such a ludicrous statement?

Much easier if you disconnect the drop-link!

The rad is 'TD specific'

I experienced the exact same problem on a previous TD; and fitted a brand new rad.
That helped ... though the gradual increase in engine temp re-occurred when towing the caravan up long inclines.

I'm now convinced that it was a damaged cylinder head/blocked piston oil jets that was my problem.
Our present TD runs constantly (and correctly) at the mid-point on the gauge.

And a 50% antifreeze mixture is critical at all times. Good luck anyway!

The mother of jobs on a TD; Chris ...

Whatever way you choose to lift the lump, you're gonna find it difficult to support it.
Luckily, I was able to put the car up on a two-post lift, which gave excellent all-round access. We then reversed a JCB up to the lift and slung some mighty thick webbing around the front crank pulley to the rear arm of the machine and let it's hydraulics take over. I wasn't really happy about doing this, but didn't fancy taking my chances with using the manifolds as lifting points. The engine mounts can't be used either, as they'll need to be disconnected from the subframe.

Now to the subframe:
It's a stout piece of fabrication, that took three of us to lift/re-align to the car. Personally, I'd disconnect the suspension by removing both wishbones. Whilst not really necessary, experience dictates this as the preferred method. The 'frame will also need to be refitted to the chassis members EXACTLY as before removal. Mine went back a tad out of true and upset the steering geometry. A planned trip to WIM was then brought forward rapidly.

Realistically, doing this job 'on your back' is a definate 'no no' and I'd be inclined to say ... 'sod it!' ... really!

PM sent, Chris!

With just 120k miles under it's belt, it's flown through it's annual test with no advisories:

Although it's hard to justify keeping it as our third vehicle, I just can't bring myself to flog it. Without doubt, it's been the best car that we've ever owned!

Indeed, and up until Kevins post, I was feeling very stupid, as I had never thought the pump was electrically assisted in some way. (It may still be). I'm hoping Seth might tell me, I think he still has his TD. :y

Got a spare pump here, though can't see any electrickery on it, Chris ???

Although our TD's now in semi-retirement, you're welcome to a lend. For elimination purposes, if you wish ;)

You could at least have pulled over and stopped instead of having them hanging onto the gutters in desperation. ::)

None on an Insignia .. are there? ::)

Go to nearest, wildlife park, and ask for some lion poo, place around garden. Remove and repeat

Our little chap's got the errant cat situation under control here:
