Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Bose speed sensitive

it's possible to vary the sensitivity to speed, it's in the audio manual.

?? What does the "sensitivity to speed" actually do? Does this come as standard on an Elite with a 2013 Bose head unit?

I've sent an email to the chap as it appears he will supply the board fully built.

Some interesting information on his site if you go back to the home page and browse.

Assuming you the German for "home"  :-/

I don't understand a blinkin' thing. 1st off it's electronics and to make matters worse it may not even be in English. (I'm assuming it is German, but it might just be electronic speak which is going right over my head.)

Is it possible to have a DVD which outputs to screens in the head rests and to a manual switch, which when opened allows that same output to show on the CID and override the SATNAV output?

.................yes!

Now you're talking my language  :y

No, it requires an external sppy to switch the unit.

The additional chip is a sync seperator which is being used to extract the requried synd for the sharp LCD display.....ow yes, its obsolete to!

Sorry Mark,

If this answer is aimed at me; I don't understand it?

I'm not up on electronics, sorry :-[

Is it possible to have a DVD which outputs to screens in the head rests and to a manual switch, which when opened allows that same output to show on the CID and override the SATNAT output?

I only reckon I'll understand a "yes" or "no" in answer to this question. If it is a yes then I'd be interested in pursuing it as a potential option, if no, then I'll go back to sleep.

I'd still need to find a suitable way to have a DVD player somewhere in the car without losing my standard fitted Bose head unit. I want to keep that because I like the standard look, the SATNAV and the computer functions on the dash.

The more I think about it, the more I realise I may be barking up an empty tree here.  :(

Well I'm looking for someone who can make up the PCB (The layouts are on there, just need to be printed out), then i'd love to have a go.... Anyone got a spare CID so I don't trash mine??? LOL I thought not!

That PCB looks to have been created on a milling machine......

....ow, did I mention we have a PCB milling machine at work  ::)

If this ever comes of anything please consider me a potential customer. I'd like to rig it up with screens in the headrests and they would need to work whilst moving and the CID would need to work on SATNAV whilst that was happening. Only when I wanted to manually "flick a switch" would I want to feed the DVD output to the CID.

I don't want much eh?

(Moon on a stick, in case you were wondering)

Believe that the screen only shifts to alternate source when it detects an input (part of the logic on that interface built onto the PCB has).
On the video link on that site you can see that all of the head unit menu's and the clock / source bar at the bottom disappear when the video source is turned on so the interface obviously drives the lcd panel directly.

That'd be OK though, I would expect a manual override switch, so that I could simply just break the signal, via the switch, whilst I was in motion, or didn't want to see the DVD/TV output, and if I wanted to watch the TV/DVD then I could flip the switch and expect to see that instead of the SATNAV.

Or have I missed your point here?

RGB, but a little bit more involved than just plugging in.....

This may be of interest...

Fascinating  :-/, I don't understand a word of it, but there are a couple of pictures which make me think it may be possible to watch TV on your CID!

...or am I just beeing a bit too hopeful?

Does anyone know more?
Whilst technically possible, probably not worth the effort.  and the is legal requirement to blank tv screen viewable by driver when moving.

Point well made and very much appreciated, my friend has a SATNAV/TV screen on his Rover 75 and that won't work unless in neutral with the handbrake on. It would be nice to see if it were possible though for those times spent waiting.

Whist consulting the manual to the SatNav (factroy fit) in my 1998 Elite, it says "for safey reasons the SatNav can not be operated above 75mph!!!  ;D ;D

So i am fine to adjust it to at 74, but not 75mph!  :D

Technically speaking, for safety reasons, you shouldn't drive over 70  ;)

Omega General Help / Re: new custom stainless exhaust

theres a member on the forum who has had a nice stainless steel exhaust system done for his 3.2 its the same as standard i believe but just s/s (catback system)

i would just go cat back and remove the centre silencers and use a Y piece to enter the backbox keeping it similar to the standard setup!

That'll be me.

You need to bear in mind one thing on the "current" picture you have: Although the pipes would seem to conjoin toward the rear of the car they don't; the two pipes still run independently through the aft-most box.

In essence that means that your pictures "current, "1" & "4" are all the same in terms of configuration; i.e. they are seperate pipes all the way back.

Don't de-cat it, keep them seperate all the way back and noise is not equal to power! A couple of people on here have heard, and driven, my car since the set below was added and it is not a loud set up; a little more "rumbly", but very subtle. A decent diameter (2.5") all the way back through some free flowing boxes will give you more oomph.

Here's a couple of pics to show you how standard you can still make it look; the rear cylindrical box you see has actually got two discrete straight-through pipes running through the length of it. I had mine done at long-life for about £400 and built onto the car. They are a continuous line all the way back from the cats and as they are guaranteed for life they'll never need to come off.

Mmmm i might invest in one of these to see if it clears my problem 0420 code too . :y

Kev's bang on; read my last post on your "0420" post.

BTW, once you have fixed it by moving the O2 sensor back, I did notice that you're running an 11% long term fuel trim. For that reason only I might consider the MAF, but Kevin will know better than me. It is a lot less than mine was at 24% though. (EML code 0170 was coming up)

It makes me wonder if the MAFs on DBW cars don't have the same legendary reliability. :-/

Kevin

At 33.50 per MAF and at least I know what the problem is likely to be then I'll live with that though.

There is no sign of the 0420 & 0430 either so I think the moving back of the O2 sensors has worked.

Do you think I'd gain anything by putting standard 3.0 front sections on now and completely removing the pre-cats? There must be some resistance / back-pressure caused by them.

Confirmed as another MAF sensor issue.

Replaced MAF and problem solved :y

Ironically enough, right at the outset my local garage said to me "check the MAF sensor, it's common"

Having asked on here the response was largely "Unlikely".

Recently I have noticed that there has been quite a little spate of these, so well worth getting it checked out. For £33.50 for a new one incl P&P & excellent service (see above for contact details) you can't argue really and my car is a different machine with no EML.

Thread finally dead and buried.

Thanks Kevin, Jaime and Chris for your help. :y
