This is the interior triangular trim at the top of a Smart Roadster door where the mirror sits. Water is getting passed where this seal used to seal between the trim & the door panel.
You can see that the seal is a foam/sponge affair that was presumably injected from some kind of mastic gun. Does anyone know of something similar? Unless anyone does, I think the easiest thing will be to just silicone the two bits together,

Any experts out there. It records as it should, plays back as it should but ...... even though when you delete stuff, it goes from the list of recorded programmes, it doesn't seem to be being deleted from the hard disc ie the cake icon showing the amount of space left & used doesn't show any increase after your recorded programme has been deleted.
There's now 73GB left of 500  :-\ :-\ :-\

Omega General Help / Did my good deed this evening
« on: 25 January 2013, 20:46:42 »
Setting the scene ..... dark ..... 1" of snow on un-gritted main road & still snowing.  :o
Just nipped to the chippy this evening for chips to go with the steak for tea  ;) ;) and noticed an Omega estate (proper shaped prefacelift  ::)) stranded at the roadside, bonnet up & a Eurobox facing it, attempting to revive it - he hand jump leads in hand.
I pulled up just behind & asked if they needed a hand. Bloody thing won't start he said, tried off the Eurobox, but the Omega still wouldn't play. As I nodded to the Merc I suggested that it might do a bit better  ;) ;). Faced the Omega with the Merc, & popped its bonnet. As the battery is under the seat, I knew there was a positive post at the side of the engine bay, but never really thought about the 'earth'. Connect up the cars, and his Omega started!
Result!

Just need to find a better 'earth' point just incase there's another need to jump or be jumped

General Car Chat / SWMBO phoned to say the car won't start
« on: 22 January 2013, 15:02:23 »
Phoned at work. The car wouldn't start this morning, had to get a lift to work ....... I think I was to blame for some reason  ???
What's it doing I ask .......Turning over? Or just turning over slowly?

I'll get the key & you can listen. Can you hear that?

(HTF can I hear what's going on at home when there's loads of back ground noise behind me?  ??? )
And the little orange light is now flashing!

Go & get the other key!

It's started!  :-\

Have you had the key apart?

It came apart this morning ........ Oooo! I can see it on the drive.

She's the heaviest hand person I've ever come across!!!!

General Car Chat / new tyres/balance weight
« on: 18 January 2013, 17:32:55 »
At considerable cost  :'( I've just had a couple of tyres fitted to the back of my R Class.  :'(
It seems the fitter has used a box of stick-on weights to balance it, some stuck on each other. I need to add up the actual weight. Surely a new tyre shouldn't need so much to balance it  :-\ Is it the tyre, the way it's been fitted ..... isn't there something about the coloured dots you see on the side wall to do with balance of the actual tyre  :-\  :-\ I've only pottered about town so far, so no idea what it's like at speed.

Anyone with a knowledgeable opinion?  :-\  :-\  :-\ And do I take it back to them to re-fit so it only needs half a box  ::)

General Discussion Area / Lidl battery chargers
« on: 14 January 2013, 22:31:30 »
For those that want a cheapo CTek type/'smart' charger, it seems that Lidl are doing their cheap charger again. I've got a couple of these (one connected permanently to the caravan's battery) & for the price - they're OK. One is similar to that shown, t'other has a digital readout.

No 1 daughter has just told me that the rear screen wash just hits the floor directly without touching the screen! She's only had the car about 7 months & has just got around to telling me!  ??? ???  ???

It took less than 30 secs to adjust the ball type jet! But testing the washers meant that it emptied the bottle ....... Dad to the rescue again!  ;D ;D ;D
