The Rise and Fall of Nokia (Mobira)
« on: 11 July 2018, 18:25:19 »

One for the Fans really or Haters, Documentary currently on BBC iPlayer "The Rise and Fall of Nokia" I found quiet interesting, you got to hand it to them really, started from a handful of People in Finland, from Nothing to Something and Back to Nothing again. Brought back some memories  :(

A lot of it is in Finish, so Subtitled, very quicly by the way so keep up at the back.

Nokia fallen?  Really?

Argos have pages of great Nokia phones.

I hope they are still in the market as I have had only Nokia's for decades ;)

Nokia lost their way after their peak of the 6310i. They failed to grasp touchscreen smartphones until way, way too late, and bitter infighting was the final nail.

The company was split up, and is a shadow of its former self.  Its now doing what it should have done 10years ago, and become yet another bog standard Android flogger.  Might be too late now, as Nokia have lost most of that brand loyalty, and aren't offering anything special, or at a competitive price.

Anything has to be better than this generation of smartphones that cark it in less than 12 months and struggle to get a bar of reception if they've ever been dropped a couple of foot.

My gayPhone has been surprisingly good, as was the previous one which mum still uses, and I only replaced because I might have damaged the compass after a wall flew into it.

Now, gayPhone batteries..... :(

Just picked up a OnePlus. Mostly because iPhone won't play nice with my Sonos. And I like the Sonos.  :P

Also it means that I can have 1fone and my work Motorola can be returned. I say mine, actually it's my 3rd in a year. The first one died of a battery fault. The second died because it didn't perform to expectations so had a Volvo parked on it. Accidentally of course.  ::)

Really.
We have 4 iphones in the house between us. Sonos system is controlled perfectly, on any of them.
The only one who has a problem with sonos is the daughter, as she's a Samsung phone girl!

Yes, it's odd. Control is perfect, the issue arises when the media is being streamed off the phone to the speaker. As soon as the iPhone sleeps, it stops streaming and skips to the next track, which then skips again after a few mins  :-\

I tried all manner of updates/regression back to earlier SW versions etc. In the end I just gave up. This was on a 6s plus 64gb. So far no issues with the new phone or my galaxy tab S3.
