My Citroen diesel dropped up to around 10 mpg this last week, AC on full blast......

38 around town with the A/C on. On a steady cruise down the M,way she'll easily touch fifty +
There are ways to improve your MPG other than driving steady & cooking your self Just remove all exhaust restriction

I do not bother to look at my mpg fearing a heart attack (you can guess what the mpg will be with high speed driving + a/c on full blast in a v6 3.0 mig :exclamation)

Who would complain with a 50 mpg figure? Anyway, i disagree on the cooking instead of using the a/c. If you were in the country I am, you would surely say - bugger off mpg figures and THANK YOU a/c. my mig has trouble cooling down the car with temperatures hitting 50 C

Sounds suspect to me. Air con simply can't consume that much power.  I barely notice the difference so it stays on this time of year.

as an average over the past 1700 miles, mine is saying (and its dead accurate) 25.1mpg from my 3.0l auto.  And I don't exactly spare the horses

Agreed... As has been said many times the difference on a big engine is minimal so I leave mine running all year round!! TBH, I'm not going to worry about an extra 20 miles from a tank

50+ mpg is good, but cars that give that kind of millage are quite a lot of.

Just doing an LPG converstion say £1k, with 50% reduced costs (ie 50% more mpg) it still takes years to pay that back even with a fairly high millage.

Comparing the same model with a petrol enging is often much cheaper

i stuck £17.56 in my 2.5 and drove 200 miles = approx 52 mpg ...good old lpg

Took the Diesel Omega out for a spin Sunday eve.

Went from York to SLady bitshorpe and back. Average MPG was just above 40 (then I took a wrong turning and had to make a bit of time!) 

Overall - 39.3mpg

Yeah I was susect at the 30mpg showing average around town though has gone up not to 34 mpg and it's not driven like Miss Daisy drives either. I'm pretty certain it uses less fuel then my van then again thats heavier. But i'm in to all this MPG malarky now

My son is in bahrain at the moment, complaining about 50degs + heat !  8-)

10k would take me over a year, and i could not loose the boot!

If I were in your shoes I'd be looking for something with a V12, not a tractor / fart gas. 8-)

The low miles i do, have had me thinking. Nice supercharged V8 XJ would be veerry nice.

BMW 540's are cheap too, loads of big engined cars our.

Trouble is my 2.2 has been so damn reliable, and this exhaust flexi is the only mechanical thing to have failed in 2 years!

Plus my house deposit fund wins over that....

That said i did splash the cash on motorbike training, and a rather nice bike

Hehehe! I bet your son's car a/c is also suffering then! I'm looking into changing the a/c compressor for something else which will cool my car properly.
