Astra service
« on: 22 May 2018, 10:21:54 »

Just been up to my local indie to book Mo's car in for a service. Evans Halshaw stamped the book last August but, whether they actually did anything or not, I don't know. I asked him about the warranty as it's only 18 months old and still has 18 months left. He took the reg number and told me not to worry as he rings Vauxhall, gives them the reg and mileage (10500) and they deliver the relevant parts.
I am reassured.  :)

You need to do a bit more than that.

Vx are pretty good and will carry out a health check, simply provide the service invoice and copies of the invoices for the parts and they will approve the warranty

From memory, the health checks are free.

Sorry, I think I see what you mean now. As for free healthchecks, I would imagine that depends on which Vauxhall dealer you go to.

They all provide it, or should.

OK. Why would an 18 month old car need a health check?

So they can find faults with it, good for business ;)

You've got no worries, it's still under warranty, and you can get your body warranty stamped :y

Revenue protection.

Either highlighting work that might need attention soon or by detecting potential warranty issues before they become bigger deals... ie sticky rear caliper spotted early would mean a new rear caliper but leave it until it's too late and the warranty becomes disc and pads as well. Times two because you can't do just one side...

Yep,health checks on anything should be free and you should get a copy of it.Basically three columns in green for ok amber for getting ready to be done and red for needs doing asap/now.Warranty stuff not so bad as you don't have to pay for anything and dealership claims off manufacturer for costs.Out of warranty and if you let them "up sell" it can sting a bit.

No upselling will occur here, I've got Barnsley blood now.  ;D

I took my 3.2 to Vauxhall for a re-gas, they gave it a free health check on the side. Came out all good!

Suspect I will get them to service the Zaf, keep book going on a 2014 year.

Wifey's is a 66 plate, but I see no reason for a main dealer service.
