Hence I always suggest people with GM ones refurb them, rather than replace with crap.  Its a bit extra work, but cheaper and will last longer.

Is there any easy to spot tell tale that they are original GM? GM logo somewhere?

They'll look like they were rescued from the Titanic; rusty and covered in crap off the road. You're getting bogged down in details that are unimportant.

You've got new wishbones, so fit the front poly bushes and get them on the car. They'll be an improvement. If the removed ones look vaguely saveable, keep them. If they don't, bin them. To me, the only thing the originals do better than refurbished ones is that the ball joints are rivetted on, not bolted.

I was just curious really, if mine turns out to have GM ones on it currently I'll save them and refurb for next time.  If not, they can indeed go in the bin.

If Farage and Braverman had been more 'inclusive' like the NHS they would have been greeted with open arms. :D ;D

The left love to control and close down anything they don't agree with.

You don't need to be very right wing to be considered a right wing Nazi in 2024. :-\

Or a weak pump, or fuel pressure regulator...

That points towards an issue either with the cluster or the connection from the engine ECU.

The dash is the one major difference between the Catera and Omega, and without seeing behind the cluster there may be additional wiring/plugs for the extra displays/warnings.

I suspect that the alternator only feeds the charge light (and battery voltage gauge), whereas the rpm signal comes from the engine ECU information (crank and/or cam sensor).

If the pedal trick works*, any codes may highlight a discrepancy.

* It should as the car is DBW.

The speedometer issue is almost guaranteed to be unrelated.
But engine right on high rpm. Car starts to stall when accelerating. Maybe I should start with (crank and/or cam sensor)?
Previous owner said that they changed crank sensor from omega.

Fuel filter ok?

if it miss fires on acceleration that points to ignition voltage and coil packs
I'm expecting fuel filter too And I will start to change it first soon.
Coil pack are new. Engine is not misfiring.

I thought that wishbones that had the harder polly bushes fitted had a tendency to crack  :-\ :-\

Only if you fit them to the back,

I knew there was something about polly bushes ..... it's been a while since my Omega days  :y

I reckon Robsey's V8 "Omega 2.5 estate" was pretty much perfect. Before he gave the game away by poking a blower through the bonnet!

Was this the one with Monaro running gear?
Yup :y

Still going strong. Basically it's a short wheelbase Commodore wagon that happens to look like an Omega... That's to say the entire drivetrain and subframes are Monaro/Holden VZ rather than Omega B.
