Friends daughter round this morning in her Fiat 500 had some personal plates for her birthday so I fitted them for her, she was going to pay her mechanic to do it, my good deed for the day.😎

I go round my neighbours to cut my hedge on our boundry. I have to be ultra careful as his gate is so rotten, i'm scared it'll fall apart in my hand.  ;D

Completed some more Dexta items on the list:

Made and fitted the battery and starter cables
Fixed the starter motor (a poor previous overhaul by a pro, didn't solder the brush braids!)
Fitted the horn
Made and fitted the horn loom
Fitted the ignition/lights switch
Buzzed out the wiring loom to check its fitted correctly
Filled with oil
Check valve clearances (It would appear I had set them  ;D)
Check injector pump timing (It would appear that I did set this also  :D)
Pop some fuel in
Prime the low pressure fuel system
Fettle the injector pump  (not pumping on one cylinder)
Swear at the primer pump leaking (aftermarket part after mine disappeared)
Prime the high pressure fuel lines.

Go for a start and away she went, all three cylinders with no bother at all.

Shut it off and fill the cooling system, water pissing out the centre of the radiator  :'( (new one ordered, not eBay  ;D)

Spent lunchtime thrashing the Arrma toy around the leisure centre field.  I bet daisys and dandelions are still falling out of the sky now ;D

Spent about 45 mins ringing some local companies that sounded like they make shit, to see if I can buy some thick steel plate to strap my 3d printer to, to stop X/Y frame flex, but nobody has any.

Anyone know where to buy some 400x500 thick steel plate - thick enough to not flex when printer is bolted down to it?

Not sure if 5mm will flex or not at that size.  I do run my belts pretty tight.

Probably. But you could bolt two plates together.

You'd do better asking in person, as the size you want is an offcut out of the bin

Quality plywood would also work, and again you could epoxy 2 or 3 pieces together for extra stiffness.

Whilst I'm sure that would work, the phrase my father would use is there is a difference between scratching your arse and tearing it to bits.

Used that a lot in marine, mainly for the foundations of 5MW VIMs (Vertical Induction Motors)

Get yourself a couple of highway maintenance cones, put one either side of a manhole of appropriate size ........... and then nick the manhole cover.  :y ::)
