Omega General Help / 1995 2.0 16V petrol rear caliper change
« on: 09 August 2021, 06:33:14 »
Does anyone know, if there is a Lucas or another make beside ATE, for the rear caliper on the wifes 1995 Omega, do 2.2 petrol calipers fit and are they Lucas? If they are what am I looking for when purchasing them, OE code etc. Or could anyone point me to some, even Ebay will do. Car is off road at moment.

I need to replace the ones on the car, as they are the original ones which need replacing and the brake pad securing pins are rusted into the caliper. I uprated the calipers and discs on the front for Lucas.  Is there a Lucas that is a straight swap, that will also use the original size disc, as just bought new discs to fit.

The car is a 1995 2.0 16V estate model, with ATE calipers.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I was looking at the pinouts on the back of my radio. I was wondering if anyone knows what the Audio in pins at the top right in the picture are for and if there was a way to use them as a AUX in?

Thanks for any info.

Could anyone tell me what Fuel pressure readings I am looking for, on the 2.0 16V X20XEV petrol engine?

Ignition key to the on position engine not running.

Engine running

Engine under load (was told transmission in reverse (automatic) holding the brake while gently giving the engine a slight amount of throttle)

The one where FPR vac pipe is removed, done with engine running for a few seconds, what should the pressure jump upto?

Also how long is the pressure in the fuel rail, supposed to stay from turning off the engine. And what sort of drop should I expect?

I think the FPR is on the way out, as the vac pipe is dry, but there is a strong smell of fuel vapour in it. But want to check it before I purchase one. Also hopefully will tell me if injectors are working ok.

There is still a smell of being rich when idling, but not as bad as it used to be.  Changed Coolant temp sensor, new complete Idle Air Control Valve. Got a Throttle position sensor. plus other bits. Genuine O2 changed, new exhaust from downpipe to back box. Type approved Cat.

Thanks for any help

Rang my local Vauxhall Dealer in Darlington today, to order some bolts. As we were chatting, he said that they had 2 centre boxes and back box for a 2.5, 3.0 Estate in stock.  I said I would let everyone know, incase someone is looking for one.

The company is Drive Vauxhall Darlington. 01325 637265. The person to ask for is Frank in Parts Department.

Hope this is of use to someone.

I have done a search but cannot find the answer.  The thin vac pipe that goes from the cam cover, to the throttle body on the wifes 1995 2.0ltr 16v has gone all soft inside. I am trying to find the Inside diameter, so I can buy some reinforced silicon vacuum pipe to replace it.

Would anyone have an idea of what size inside diameter it should be please, also is it worth doing the other vac pipe next to it, on the cam cover with a silicon vac pipe?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Well Car passed. But the CO emissions just scraped through on FAST IDLE TEST. Here is the printout.  Last year I replaced loads of things to get car through Emissions.  This year I have changed the Cat for a Type Aprroved one. Changed the O2 sensor, as after comunications with NGK, they said I had wrong one for my year, still Titania but not for the age group of my car. Plugs, oil, airfilter. But used the IAT, MAF and ECT, fitted last year.

I did a vacuum test and that is showing at 19Hg, which I understand means no vac leaks and engine in good condition and no ignition anomalies.

Will get some live data, hopefully today. But wandering why always the FAST IDLE TEST causes the problems. Would the EGR valve being faulty(no Error codes show for it), cause this problem?

MOT Centre is 3 miles from the house and the car was taken straight in for test.
Incase readings cann't be seen

Oil temperature reading Actual 86

FAST IDLE TEST
RPM :- 3084 PASS
CO :- 0.298 PASS
HC :- 70 PASS
LAMBDA :- 1.008 PASS

NATURAL IDLE TES

RPM :- 1043 PASS
CO :- 0.003 PASS

Here is the printout of test:-

I was wandering what springs that people have used on their 2.6 or other V6 saloons?  I recently put a pair of these in the link below, for the MOT in November, but i'm not happy with them. The back end seems to drop, with two people who are not heavy and shopping in the boot. I was wandering if there is any that will give a little bit less sag, with people in the back.

Link to the ones I purchased.

Omega General Help / Where does this vac pipe goto
« on: 09 December 2020, 17:24:14 »
Would anyone have any idea, where this vac pipe in red circle goes to?  Changed HBV other day and just as I was finishing the heavens opened. Anyway put everything back together, started car up and got a missfire on No.2 at roughly 2500 revs and EML light(not spanner) on.  So today I was removing coil pack, passenger side to check if water hasn't got in and found this pipe.  Not long had Timing belt done, have had no problems with car, until rain got into engine bay, so hopefully missfire is from water getting into the plug well. It is a 2002 2.6 Petrol only Vauxhall Omega.

The pipe seems to come from under the front of the plenum.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Omega General Help / Wheel in motion Franchises besides Chesham
« on: 02 December 2020, 20:10:02 »
Do WIM still have franchises, across the country? I have recently done the front suspension strut and springs. And set the camber up as close as possible using the socket method on here. I have been trying around the Darlington area to get the front tracked. The last one I went to today, put the car up in the air. Looked at the front setup and said they hadn't seen a setup like it.  No one seems to be able to sort it for me.  I am going back a few years, but took one of my omega's to a franchise in Mansfield.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Omega General Help / Help with front suspension
« on: 26 October 2020, 17:29:54 »
Sorry to bother everyone, but thought someone might be able to help me?  I have removed the old drivers front drivers shock as the coil spring had broke and the old shock looked worse for wear. I am now trying to sort out the new one.  I have put it all together, but when I tighten the nut to hold the washer to the recomended torque onto the rubber bush that turns, it seems to take forever to get there and the rubber mount seems to lock up and not turn. I have a crows foot on a torque wrench and a spanner on the hex, to hold the shock still. Would anyone have any ideas why it is doing it? The bearing in the rubber was smooth rolling when I checked it, before putting it all together.  I have checked to make sure everything is back as it should be, as I took pics as I dismantled it.

Is the rubber bush supposed to turn smoothly when torqued up, or is it supposed to be tight?

I am at a lose end as Mot is next week and still got passenger side to do.

I have attached pic to show what I am on about.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Omega General Help / Back brake disc and pads
« on: 03 September 2020, 10:05:16 »
I know that there is a post for the fronts. But thought I would do one for the back brake setup.

Can anyone tell me if these back brake pads, will fit a 1995 2ltr (X20XEV) estate and a 2002 2.6ltr (Y26SE)?

The part number is GM 9192125, which I assume is the Trade ones, if not what is the number I need?

Also are the Delphi Back discs, as good as the ones recommended on the other post?

I have found some and it says that they fit both Omegas. So I assume that it was only the front brakes that were different on the 1995 Omega. I have the bits to update it to later discs and calipers, as recommended by DG on the other post. And both are solid discs rear.

Just getting all the bits together to sort, them ready for winter.

Thanks for any help.

Hello

Can anyone tell me how to get to the back bolts inside the engine bay, on a 2ltr 1995 Omega?  I have looked on my 2002 2.6 Omega and found them, just next to where the top of the strut is bolted. But on the 1995 one, where the hole is for the bolt on passenger side, it is covered by a large part, with a heat sheild in front of it sitting above the area of the bolt access. On the drivers side, there are 3 hoses covering the access hole.

I have enclosed photos to show what I mean. Thanks in advance, for any help.

Omega General Help / Best coil springs for a 2.6 Saloon
« on: 26 June 2020, 09:29:54 »
Could anyone recommend decent coil springs for my 2.6? While it is off the road, going to change the back suspension as it is a bit tired.

I have found these, but not sure if OK, they say inconstant spring design which I understand gives the best of both worlds, in different loads and keeping the wheels on the road better. The car is a standard factory setup, no air suspension.

Omega General Help / front wishbone poly bush question
« on: 07 May 2020, 08:06:33 »
Hi everyone

Sorry I know it has probably been asked a million times, but I cann't seem to find the answer.  When fitting polybushes to the front wishbones. Can you tighten them up without the suspension being loaded, or do you have to drop car to ground as explained in how to? Also will the torque setting for them still be the same?

Thanks in advance for any help.
