Split Vacuum Hose - urgent replace of ok for now?
« on: 20 October 2006, 14:36:21 »

Back of the inlet, where the 4 vacuum lines are, the 2nd in from the drivers side has split and is quit loose...  Seems to be ok for now, but I'm just wondering what is this one connected to, and should I replace it now, or will it be ok for a little while?

I tried following it down the back of the engine, but its a jungle down there!

The heater in the car, fans, etc, all seem to be working fine still??

That one should go to the small connector on the breather box if it's on the correct pipe. How far is it split? Could you chop the end off and refit? It will be sucking a bit of unfiltered air in but I doubt if it will get any grit in that far up.

in the most extreme case it will affect performance and mpg - and thats extreme.

Not an essential fix it now but personally i wouldnt run the car like that  ;)

I found a split hose at our OMEGA meet last week and had it replaced as soon as i got home - engine had not even cooled lol

its split right down, but the hose seems quite brittle (age of car) but I'll give the 'cut-n-shunt' method a go

MIne is a real issue now - conked out on way to work - heard the wistling, so squidged it around and released the excess gas pressure it had caused.

WIll be using a short length of fual hose and a bit of copper pipe tomorrow to fix
