Genuine GM Parts
« on: 19 October 2006, 16:02:50 »

Does anybody know if the parts these guys are selling are genuine GM?

As i don't have a trade card (and i'm guessing they do), it might be the cheapest way for me to buy things?

I have asked them to quote on..

Timing Belt Kit (he lists 2) not sure which one i need.

Either this one.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Timing-Belt-Kit-V6-Signum-Omega-Vectra_W0QQitemZ200037835314QQihZ010QQcategoryZ10404QQcmdZViewItem

or this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Timing-Belt-Kit-V6-Omega-Sintra-Vectra_W0QQitemZ200037840968QQihZ010QQcategoryZ10404QQcmdZViewItem

Water Pump http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Water-Pump-Cavalier-Vectra-Omega-Sintra-Signum_W0QQitemZ4635687508QQihZ002QQcategoryZ10404QQcmdZViewItem

(and these items which aren't on the ebay shop)
Auxiliary Belt
Front Brake Discs & Pads
Power Sounder for Alarm.

Will see how much they come back with!

Cam belt kit, the first one listed above, is £85 on TC anyway. That would be exc Vat though, which you would have to compare against postage costs.
Depending on circumstances, location etc, the forum will always be the better option (there's always someone who can help)  - if only to maintain it's spirit and camaraderie! IMHO anyway!

Good for you! If you haven't got the dvd, it's definately worth having as well.
Good luck  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Are you available this weekend? If I can get parts tomorrow, I could give you a hand this weekend. That will save you coming over twice (to pick up and drop off kit)?

Dependent on my favourite dealer having the parts of course! Or at least the cambelt kit and the pump...  (they should have)

Yes - well worth it. Having the visual guide is superb.
In relation to getting the parts and help, isn't this forum excellent?

Only one problem with this site, if you are paranoid about your car, as I am, you start to imagine all the faults you read about on here are wrong with your car. I drive along listening for the slightest unusual sound or clunk from the steering, the smallest rattle and I have mentally got the engine in bits all over the garage floor!   ;D

Yeah, I know what you mean. There are usually about 20 or so cars on the forum with ongoing problems, but somehow the irrational side of my brain tells me that every Omega in the country is about to expire.

Yup, would agree with that....

On the plus side, though, when you hear a clunk or a rattle thats alien to the norm, you have a fair idea right away what it is and are able to invesitgate and proove from a (relative) position of knowledge, without having to part with hard earned moolah to a local mechanic or, worse, main stealer!!   :y

Hi, I am now slowly starting to work on the old principle of, if you hear a strange noise turn the wife up, it usually drowns out anything!  ;D ;D ;D
