Still refusing to start after a 10/12 mile run
« on: 21 October 2006, 09:55:32 »

Hi

2.0 Ltr GLS Auto R Reg, Starts fine in the morning,  10 to 12 mile round trip, then nothing on arriveing back home, turn the key just a click,   no dimming of head lights, dash lights stay bright, new battery fitted, I tried the old screw driver to the ear trick, on a part where there are four small bore pipes coming out, because when my son in-law turned the key the click seemed to come from this part, it is just below the battery, I know I am clutching at strews but help needed urgent, please, have not done anything to car only fitted battery supplied by vauxhall dealer.

Regards

if its just clicking & not even trying to turn, check the power to the starter motor...

failing that, try a another starter motor!

Hi Paul
will try that, have looked for starter mother but can't see it, tried looking down though the engine, and underneath, will borrow my son-in-laws ramps and look again. it seems to be well hidden, now the bloody handle for the bonnet release has come adrift.

thanks again. :y
