Omega Electrical and Audio Help / No Network
« on: 12 April 2010, 20:35:26 »
Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before but I tried to make a call on the car-phone the other day & I got a 'no network' warning & it's still there  :( (it's showing full signal & is on O2 ).

I don't use it to call very often but I do divert my mobile phone to the car which now doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Alarm/windows
« on: 01 March 2007, 22:12:53 »
My car seems to have gremlins at the moment!  :-?

I left the drivers window open earlier whilst looking under the bonnet so I could switch the ignition on/off easier.
I locked it & closed the window with the fob but when I looked out earlier the alarm LED wasn't flashing.
Unlocked & re-locked from the house & still no alarm flashing. Went out & the window button LED's were lit.
Opened drivers door & closed it, set the alarm & all OK!
Anyone else come accross this?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Elite door speaker
« on: 18 August 2006, 00:53:26 »
I'm probably answering my own question here, but just wondering.
I replaced my passenger door speaker a while ago when it packed in with one that only had one wiring connector, the original had two & I taped the other connector up.
I don't play the stereo too load normally, but when I turned it up the other day there was something missing; the rear parcel shelf speakers aren't working, but the rear doors are. (Thing is I can't remember if they did before!).
Does this other connector feed the the parcel shelf or is there something else up?
I've just spotted one on ebay & I'm wondering whether to go for it.
(Non amplified)
Cheers.

Omega General Help / Intermittent Climate Control
« on: 21 July 2009, 13:37:05 »
Hi,
My climate control only works when it feels like it!
It stays on slightly longer when on Hi or Lo but eventually cuts out & will only start again when it feels like it.
I’ve changed the whole panel but it’s still the same.

Have I got two dodgy panels or where else can I look?

Cheers.

Omega General Help / Lazy climate fan
« on: 17 January 2008, 18:39:10 »
Over the last couple of months my climate fan has become intermittent.
Most days it's OK but occasionaly it can take a minute or two to start up.
It's been getting a bit more regular lately & today on my way home from work all I got was a couple of short blasts....

Omega General Help / Rear Blind
« on: 14 August 2007, 12:06:53 »
I'm going to change my rear blind at the weekend, I've read the "how to" & I'm just wondering if anything different needs to be done with the Bose amp being there?

Cheers.

Omega General Help / No Heat
« on: 07 August 2007, 09:59:49 »
OK some of you may have read my HBV woes  :(

Anyway it was replaced again about a week ago & so far no leaks  :) but unfortunately I now have no heat  :( (I didn't realise til I needed it the other morning).

Hoses at the bulkhead are hot, climate re-set & blower directions work OK, so any ideas?

Cheers

Omega General Help / HBV Again?
« on: 20 July 2007, 06:10:47 »
Changed my HBV about three weeks ago & all was good.
Got home yesterday & could smell coolant as I got out of the car & there was a puddle forming underneath :o
Popped the bonnet & it's coming from the same place again.

So are they liable to fail so quickly?  >:(

Omega General Help / Using Coolant
« on: 24 June 2007, 20:40:49 »
I'm sure this has been a hundred times before but........

I'm using a lot of coolant every so often. Did two trips across town yesterday & the expansion tank was almost empty, similar trip today & haven't used any.

No obvious signs of a leak & it's running at normal temp?

Omega General Help / Lack Of Power etc.......
« on: 28 February 2007, 08:29:37 »
Right, where to start.

Under normal acceleration I have a lack of power up to about 3 ½ k revs & then it seems to go OK. If I floor it there’s a slight hesitation & then it goes OK, (all of this is not as noticeable when cold but still there).
The kick-down is not working as it did; I have to press the accelerator further down for this to happen.
The tick-over is just under 500 & it doesn’t change when I put it in drive or turn the heater/air-con on/off.
I’ve had a quick look under the bonnet & nothing obvious appears to be wrong but TBH I’m just poking around in the dark.
Any suggestions where to start looking?
Cheers.

Omega General Help / Locking problem
« on: 14 January 2007, 10:25:43 »
Well I finally got round to changing my drivers door yesterday & came across a few problems.
First one was when changing the lock mechanism. The electric connectors are different, the original door has a four pin socket & the replacement three?! I'm assuming this is for the central locking/alarm & deadlocks to work with the key, if this is case I can live without it. But if I (or someone on here) can source one with a three pin connector; will everything or some things work with the key?
Second problem is the barrel itself, it will only move a couple of mm each way, I'm pretty sure I got that bl00dy fiddly connecting arm the right way round (but might need to re-check) so what else might cause this?
Also the button is sticking & unless I pull it up all the way the doors lock when I close the drivers door, obviously not good if I forget & leave the keys in!
Any ideas welcome, cheers.

Omega General Help / Misfire?
« on: 02 January 2007, 18:11:31 »
Did a 330 mile round trip at the weekend & drove to work this morning with no probs. Half way home this evening I put my foot down & got what felt like a misfire (like it was running on five). I let off the power & all was fine again. It doesn't happen on gentle acceleration or if I rev it in neutral & there's no EML, I'm sure I've read similar on here but can't find it right now, any ideas?

Omega General Help / Worrying Rattle (update)
« on: 26 October 2006, 15:04:32 »
Three days after changing the cambelt I did a 250-odd mile round trip, the following day I had a slight rattling noise on start up which got worse when I put it into drive. It only lasts for a minute or so & gradually disappears as the car begins to gets warm.

I took it to my local garage, but of course by the time I got there the noise had gone. Got him to check that the Aux belt pulleys were OK & he said that belt is very tight & might be putting pressure on the waterpump & to monitor it. It’s got ever so slightly better, but not much.

I told a guy at work about it who spoke to his nephew (who works in service at a Vx dealers) & he said it sounds like a loose cambelt tensioner  :o (not having heard it). So that’s where the panic set in!!

Finally got round to taking the Aux belt off today (big thanks to Timbuk again) & the noise is not there when started, belt back on & the noise is back.

It looks like things are pointing to the waterpump (it wasn’t changed with the cambelt because I had a receipt for it being done a few thousand miles ago  ::) ), but could it just be down to the belt being very tight?

Omega General Help / Anyone Know What This Is?
« on: 20 November 2006, 17:04:46 »
I found this behind my ashtry when changing my climate bulbs.

I thought it might be something to do with the aerial but the hole is off centre & everything looks to be OK in there.
Sorry about quality of the pic, I don't have a macro facility.

Omega General Help / Aux belt tensioner
« on: 07 November 2006, 09:44:43 »
Just phoned my two local Vx parts places inquiring about an Aux belt tensioner pulley. One says it’s available on its own at £25 & the other says it’s only available with the bracket/mounting at £70-odd.
Confused!  :-?
