Suspect a combo of garage prices to do stuff his way made an older car expensive to run, and the final straw being the HG issue. I know his time to spend on cars was limited, both by factors in and out of his control.

Added to that, we know he has pressures to keep up with the Jones', and a 18yr old Vauxhall wasn't going to cut it :D

Many years ago there was a documentary  on TV called the A-Z of motoring. It went into depth about how people perceived the motor car as a 'status symbol'

The interviewer asked one knobhead from Essex if it was important to look out of his bedroom window every morning and see a brand new car on the drive.

To which the Essex knobhead replied......"no......but it's important that all my neighbours look out of their bedroom windows each morning and see a brand new car on my drive". :)

Don't think Tunnie is that way inclined though.

Don't think Tunnie is that way inclined though.

agreed, he's a busy man with a family and running an old car can be a problem
for some people, a newer car makes sense to free time and hassle
I think the coolant leak ,which ,if it is the headgasket (which scraps many cars) is too much hassle and time
I hope he has luck finding a good ,newer car that fits into his lifestyle .
shame another Omega bites the dust   :'(
but I doubt even here , home of Omega fans  ;D anyone would want to take Tunnie's problem Omega on  ::)
at least some parts could help save other omegas  :y

James would fix it.  :y

And in fairness James did enquire but Tunnie may have missed it due to being preoccupied with the things that life throws at us.  :y

Tunnie, is this car your daily driver?
