Main Dealers
« on: 11 January 2020, 13:36:01 »

What is with these guys? I have been visiting a few recently to investigate e-cars (or lack of in most cases). The only ones where I have found a parking space is invariably at the luxury brand end of the market. Two I have had to drive away from and phoned later to protest, only to get a metaphorical shrug over the phone. They just cannot resist filling all their spaces with excess stock, thus losing many CAR driving potential customers. ??? ??? ???

PS Yes I do know what e-cars are available, but sometimes it requires a visit to discuss them.

I've always enjoyed parking my various old bangers out the front amongst the gleaming new models, while I wander round the back to the parts department.  ;D

As the Morris Marina 1800TC Coupe shared some components with the Lotus Esprite, I could have parked it out front of the Lotus dealer!  8)

Is E cars milk floats??  Could admin ban all talk of milk floats, as they have the same effect as, any type of vegetablist, dogooder, they need banning.

I agree, most of them are making it difficult to view the vehicles on sale due to lack of parking. Dealerships in Aylesbury, Perrys, no chance whatsoever of parking so people started using the pub car park opposite. The pub now has a vehicle log in system to discourage this. The VW Audi garage has the odd few spaces if you're lucky, the Mercedes/Skoda garage, no chance. As I was recently looking for a sport van, I found the commercial side no different.

something that got even more enjoyable when they moved the parts counter into the showroom.

Now the various dealer groups are tending towards a parts department in an industrial unit well away from the fancy showroom, which also helps discourage the troublesome DIYers.

The majority of main dealers are more interested in selling finance and add-ons rather than cars. This is where they make their money.
