I read somewhere the second most popular given name in Britain is Muhammed, it's a fact within two generations Germany will be a muslim dominated culture purely due to the fact of family sizes and the fact that muslim families tend to have more kids, i'm not saying sharia law will come into play but me thinks there will certainly be changes, just remember not every Muslim is a terrorist but I can safely say that just about every active terrorist is an Islamist.

whilst driving yesterday the little car and spanner came on  and when i came into idle it was running rough and hunting a little after a couple minutes driving all was good again me thinks it's a duff connection somewhere that when the condensation gets in causes a short, anyone had experience of this and know where a good place to start looking would be?( yesterday was foggy and cold so a good candidate for condensation)

General Car Chat / Re: Importing a car from Japan

you can certainly stretch the frequencies on the radio, a1999 legacy is that worth it? you have to remember all those low mileage jappers have sat in traffic jams which would make the m25 look like a German Autobahn! so you must reckon with more wear on the motor than just the mileage showing, A 1999 is a VERY old car in Japan, i know that when the markets were deregulated in N.Z we had an influx of used Jappers as evry three years (if i remember correctly) they would need to have new brakes/brakelines seatbelts and such to get a new m.o.t over there making them a very cheap import option, i don't know if this is still the case though, in N.Z importing was relatively painless apart from having to have the whole car high pressure washed to get rid of any unwanted gremlins!

Omega General Help / Re: Headlight Glass Sealant?

yes that looks like the stuff! we have kits for windscreens and for headlights but i'm geussing you could use the windscreen one for headlights (not vice versa!! the results are not good!) these are two part kits with a primer, will have a look at the shop tomorrow to see where we get this stuff from

if you get a nanotech coating designed for windscreens i can highly recommend it (and you can use it for the lights obviously) the rain just pearls up and falls off the car which is what would protect the lights from grime i geuss, with ice on the windscreen i take to it with a plastic scraper and the stuff flies off, generally it lasts about 6 months before renewal is needed.

we use Sikaflex at work, good stuff :y  If your having trouble getting the screens out use a cheese cutter wire, i can't imagine them being expensive.

the only difference from using wet and dry and polishing pastes is you get a sealant to put on afterwards which in theory should hold the yellow at bay! wi used a kit not long ago and it worked well but our 3m polishing compound ( or any abrasive compound really) imo and a nanotech sealer would work just as well imo.

Omega General Help / Re: Scary steering wheel wobble at speed
« on: 17 November 2013, 11:12:18 »
Hi
Just a couple of suggestions

In the past i have had the same due to over heating sticky brakes on one side due to a semi-seized caliper. this would be obvious by feeling for excessive heat from any one wheel when stopped after the incident.

Have you lost of one of the front wheels a large wheel balancing weight. this can cause some real strong wobbling depending on weight lost.

As for banging when going over bumps i would check wishbone bushes or ball joints

this would be pointing to drop links if you ask me, all of these components are easily repaired by a good independent, i would suggest using lemforders replacement parts they have lasted well on mine. to scrap a car for what'S on that list would be wrong, for a couple of hundred you'd have trouble free motoring again, my omega has costed me pennies in the last two years with me doing 40k within that time.

Jay

just checked the fuses and couldn't find one for specifically the climate control panel, could the panel itself be faulty?

jumped in the car today and no climate control! no lights no function zip! anyone had this before, i'm hoping it's just a fuse will check when it get's light, also turned the car off and restarted straight away and it was really running rough so turned off again and started and all was fine, i sometimes get this on cold mornings and i need to restart, could this be the start of the cam sensor going?,
Rich.
