Another Change... Red Stripe
« on: 16 April 2008, 00:45:00 »

Well this morning I was driving in front of a VW GTI MK5 and I noticed the Red stripe that they had for years on the the GTIs... so I figured why not do one on my car... so here is the result...

Any Opinions are welcome...

Very subtle - in fact being colour blind I can hardly see it!  ;)

Well is that a rare opel grill, cuz I got it from germany and I assumed that they are everywhere... but now when I look at other cars... I guess its not that common...

anyway thanks for the comments so far I like it... you cant even see it unless you are looking for it... but if you are a person who pays attention to the details... you will know its there...

I went to the local auto parts store and got a professional paint stripe kit... its a Vinyl and its in two sizes one is 1/8" and also 1/4" and then you clean the surface and apply it just like tape...
If you ever want it gone just peel it off... i think they use this type of tape for the sides when they do paint matching to cover up the overlap lines...
But it cost me about 2$ to do... and I love it... the more I stare at it the more I think its cool...

May i be so bold as to say, as  much as i respetc the next chap for signifying his car to his own taste. The simple visual dynamics of contrast apply somewhat to a more distinct hit than the silver/chrome/red scheme you have as oppesed to (my suggestion purely) a satin black grille/silver bodywork/red stripe combo.

I had a mk2 (87) vw golf in white with the narrow bumpers and  a cobalt stripe on the bumpers (fenders), it looked the business so much the police confiscated my pictures.

I like the red strip, but do agree with the above statement; I think the red strip's effect is somewhat lost in the mix with the many different layers of colour.

A blacked grille would set it off so much better.
