J.O. Five - the planning stages....
« on: 12 November 2007, 11:22:22 »

OK, following on from yesterdays 14 car blether in a carpark, suggestions were requested for another place to have another meet, preferably with overnight accomodation....   Knowing its heading fast for wintertime and we would prefer overnight accomodation at cheap (free-ish) rates, I may have the possibility of the use of a wooden bothy at THIS location.   Used it last year with my Scouts and we had a hoot....

Its basically secure inside 'camping' - cook your own, communual kipping in sleeping bags/roll mats on the floor and outside toilets/basic washing facilities.  Belongs to local Air Cadet group that would be looking for a donation of sorts for its use.  Its pretty much central (Dunkeld area) but is the middle of nowhere, really nice walking territory out towards Jocks Road.  Its far enough away from civilisation (but 25 feet from the carpark) that we could make almost as much noise as we wanted without fear of any demon warden evicting us....

For those who prefer more luxurious surroundings, the Clova Hotel is a few miles along the road.  It's a really nice place and popular with climbers etc.  See reference to climbers bar and drying room etc.

As said, simply one suggestion to promote others.....   :y

Bonus is, you do not have to camp unless you want to.  Simply pull up a chunk of floor and crash out.  Its basically a 2 - 3 car garage sized wooden hut with windows and a couple of calor gas heaters...

Sounds good, i'd be up for that. As long as Jim takes his Barbie. (And i'm talking about the one he cooks food on, not the one he plays with and dresses up)  :y

25 Ft seems a bit excessive to be away from the cars though, can't we get them any closer?  ;)

When are you thinking of Broocie before Christmas?

No great plans as to when, would imagine February-ish, but really subject to the thoughts of the majority....
