All of the above are suffering from terrible lacquer peel so looking for replacements will no peel or rust spots.
I know I’m asking a lot but at 157,000 and running sweetly I can’t afford to spray it and can’t bear to scrap it  :'(

Thank you

As per the title please. Mine was in for its MOT today (passed) but my mechanic said my window problem was a snapped cable.

He’s asked me to source a complete mechanism as he will take 20mins to swap them rather than new cable which will be upwards of 1.5 hours labour.

I can’t readily see one on eBay or on Omegasparesparts.

Thank you

General Discussion Area / Hotel wifi and iPad2
« on: 17 November 2017, 16:15:37 »
Currently staying in a hotel and my iPad is running much, much quicker than it does at home.

Speed test shows 2mbps in hotel whereas at home I have 70mbps which Speed test shows being delivered at 47mbps over wifi. I was considering changing my iPad2 for a newer, faster version but it may be the wifi delivery from my Virgin Media Superhub2 that's causing the lag.

My litmus test was the Argos site. Hotel : loads and runs quickly. At home : iPad freezes and renders the site and similar picture heavy ones , impossible to use.

Your thoughts please ?

Picked my car up this evening from Serek after he completed some bits for me to get it through the MOT.

Home with another ticket for a year. Usual friendly and excellent service from Serek.

Thank you  :y

General Discussion Area / Serek again !
« on: 07 April 2016, 17:29:01 »
Just driven home after picking up my car at Serek's garage again. It was in for a cambelt change, full service, new radiator and air con re-gas.

All jobs done with a new crankshaft seal that I didn't realise was leaking. Serek kept me up to date as to how the work was going too.

All work explained to me in great detail and I paid a very reasonable price. Serek is a gentleman and it was well worth the 100mile round trip.

Cheers Serek, see you soon.  :y

General Discussion Area / Thank you again Serek
« on: 27 November 2015, 22:34:17 »
My car developed a nasty lower end mechanical noise last weekend making it sound as if a wee diesel engine had sneaked into the engine bay. I dropped a bottle of Wynn's Lifter Treatment in but no change.

I got in touch with Serek and he asked me to bring it up to him. He immediately diagnosed a kaput water pump and I left the car with him, having agreed what work was to be done. I picked it up today and Serek explained that he'd replaced the pump, the auxiliary belt, changed the coolant, cleaned the breathers and silenced my creaking driver's door.

A top job by a true Omega expert at a very reasonable price. Serek, a public thank you to you !  :y

General Discussion Area / Kwik Fit fitter
« on: 22 January 2015, 08:59:23 »
Yesterday was Friday at work so we went for beers and curry. I got the train home and the wife picked me up to tell me that she'd used the Omega earlier and got a puncture. As she was parked next to Kwik Fit, she asked for help. Out came a young lad who rummaged around in my boot for a while, ignoring the spare wheel shaped bulge on the nearside, before announcing that these cars didn't have a spare wheel and he couldn't find the can of foam that Vauxhall would have supplied !!

He did redeem himself by filling the tyre with air to get her home and not trying to flog her 4 tyres and new shocks.  ;D

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Headlamp bulb
« on: 13 November 2014, 22:53:27 »
She keeps blowing her nearside headlamp bulb. Usually lasts about a year but only 2 weeks since last replacement and it's gone again on way home from work. Any ideas please ?

Not replaced any other bulbs since I got her in 2004.

Omega General Help / New noise
« on: 12 September 2014, 08:09:36 »
She started a new noise last night from front suspension. It's a hollow sound as if the header tank was empty and loose and clonking against the body, if you can imagine.
Worse on slightly uneven road surface than over speed humps. No noise on good, new road surfaces.
Braking and steering still good.
She's done 126,000 on original drop links. Could it be them ?

General Discussion Area / Bang !
« on: 16 July 2014, 18:46:51 »
Kick down with sports mode on this morning climbing up the motorway and BANG ..... In the mirror I can see a bit of my exhaust has fallen off and the car now sounds like Stig Blomqvist's Audi Quattro.

Got to work and noticed that the pipe from the cat back to the middle box on the offside has disappeared.
Clean off at the joint behind the cat, no bolts left, nothing.

Thought I'd killed the car when it happened and expected the dash to show me all it's pretty amber lights but nothing. Hope the cat is ok .........
