I don't get that, as mine slows me to a speed relative to the vehicle in front, and accelerates again as required, the distance gap has three settings. It works brilliantly on the Mondeo. I love it. :y

That's what they all do, mine to.

But, driving in rush hour traffic on the M1 when you keep getting cut in on by cars and lorries, its useless.

Ah, yes, well as I always leave a 'sensible' gap, which idiots will often squeeze into, this happens to me during non cruise driving as well, so it is not an issue for me. :y

yes and like me you probably have been involved in very few to no accidents as a result. The keep your distance Chevrons painted on the M1 (a hundred years ago) somewhere near Luton I think, had a profound effect on my driving style.

Remember the mantra "only a fool breaks the 2 second rule"?
There must be plenty of fools about!
I once had a sign on my rear window, saying that the gap I leave in front was for MY benefit, not yours. It was ignored by those said idiots, so I removed it.  :o

I use my cruise a lot.  :y

It's especially useful on 'Smart' motorways.  Set the speed and cruise through, knowing that your speed isn't going to creep up.  ;)

Depending on traffic conditions of course.  ::)

This.

Given 75% or my miles are motorway, probably 50% of my total miles are done on cruise. I would very much welcome adaptive cruise with lane keep assist.

I have this as well with 3 choices of warning level, but I am not keen on the higher level, as you tend to forget its on when you pull out to overtake, and, if you haven't indicated, you get a steering shake which I find disconcerting sometimes. :y

Strangely, it seems to be one of 2 options not on the Black Pussy, RSE being the other.

TBH, I never took to it on the others I test drove, was a very strange sensation (though I guess I'd get used to it). And TBH, I rarely use cruise - used to use it all the time in those motorway 50mph zones, but I tend to use speed limiter functions instead now.  My daily commute doesn't really lend itself to cruise (of any description).

'Er indoors is never indoors, she's always working. Just finished SATS tests and got a phone call yesterday to say she had an inspection on Monday. So she won't be indoors at the weekend either.  :(

Only time I've ever used cruise control when I've being towing the caravan in France, where the roads are quieter.

I love cruise, ever since it was first avlbl back in the day, I've used it. I also like the speed limiter on the Mondy for special occasions. In fact I like nearly all the technology on it, including self parking. :y

These are very good as well.  I had an old Merc C250 that had one and most Mercedes trucks have them.

Again very useful in 'Smart' motorways and average speed camera areas.  :y

Speed limiters are great in traffic conditions where using cruise isn't suitable.  I always used to use it on a twisty stretch of 30mph limit dual carriageway where it's easy to let your speed creep up and there are often camera vans round the next corner.  ::)  >:(

I have another feature where you can set an alarm if you exceed a certain speed. I think it is for countries where winter tyres are used. Would they be limited to 60kmh?

Because they have fickin great lumps of rubber which will try to detach on corners at high speed. Even if they can't detach, they can deform sideways, making handling a bit iffy.

It's for when you have a space saver spare fitted :y

Winter tyres on standard wheels should be of a size, load and speed rating broadly similar to summer tyres on the vehicle in question, and certainly in accordance to the owners manual...

Never used cruise control, never even bothered to look up how to set it.But for the life of me I cannot see why anyone needs lane keeping assist if the day comes when I can't stay in my chosen lane without some form of assistance I'll pack in driving.

Cruise works best in autos, and lane keeping for when you are about to nod off, which may happen at my age. ::)

So to summarise these gadgets are for coffin dodgers.

Young people, people who drive in heavy traffic and coffin dodgers in denial don't need them
