Hello i have an issue with the fan switch area on my 2002 elite 2.6 which became kind of sticky. i attempted to clean off the stickyness with spray dash cleaner but ended up taking the black off the small fan control switches and the other two switches on that panel.
I would need to replace the whole panel which includes boot release and rearblind amongst other things.
my question is how easy is it to replace the panel(the one that surrounds the stereo)and can i get hold of a used one ?
thanks for help

Just as easy to swap out the buttons ;)
-
thanks DG how do they come off?
-
Carefully ::)
You need to split the unit... Easier to do than to try to explain ;)

Has the damage gone beyond the climate panel? If not, simply swap the climate ecu/panel over if you can find a perfect one, or swap buttons over if you cant find a perfect one. Patience is needed to dismantle ecu to get to buttons due to lots of plastic clips, but remains an option.
If the damage has fone beyond that climate strip, you need to replace those bits as well - they all have to come off anyway to get climate panel out.

Thanks for reply the damage is mainly the fan + and - buttons so a replacement climate panel is what i need ,is that right? If i dont just change buttons.

Yup, replacement climate panel, if you can find a perfect one. If you find one that has good fan buttons but poor Auto/Eco/Off (the other ones that tend to go), then that's an option, and make one good on from the 2 bad...
