Just a Update visited my vaux dealer today codes found -

TC P0170 Fuel trim
TC P0173 Fuel trim
TC PO100 Mass air volume flow low.

The mechanic has tested all these areas but found no fault.

The light at present is out just hope it stays that way :-? if the light  comes back on again and i have it tested another £50 and maybe for nothing.

Any ideas?

On a independant mechanics diagnostic kit codes shown were 090/091 related to fuel trim...  engine light was cleared at the time of the test but lit up again a day later, so it's off to the garage.

Hi all, i have seen this  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300019125452&fromMakeTrack=true#ebayphotohosting

Do you all think this kit will do the trick on a omega 2001.

Any basic instructions of how to use it would be appreciated... I only have a desktop pc wow the lead will have to be long.

Regards dave.

If its the symbol of the engine....then it is the emissions light.....perfectly fine to drive with it on.....only a prob if it starts flashing iirc

Think you might find vx dealer closed Monday......its a bank holiday  ;)

Mine comes on and off as well....but like Martin....mine runs on lpg too.

Be worth getting the codes read......but prob just a faulty sensor.....theres 2 off them (lambda sensors)

One you can see from the engine bay.....on the exhaust pipe off the manifold (well you can on a 2.2, not sure on V6's) Other one is after the cat and 1st exhaust box ( 1st time i saw the second one today....as my meega had it wheels up in air dangling.....having an oil change)

I gave it a run today alls normal, it does sound like the sensors on the exhaust, looking briefly i found 2 one each side approx under the front seats most of the exhaust is covered with a plate so i'm not sure if there are more, maybe one is faulty.

Does anyone know where i can purchase a diagnostic kit.. it would save alot of time and worry.
Thanks all for your input.
Regards
Dave.

Had no work to the exhaust system, breakdown guy has been, "sorry cant help you we don't carry diagnostic equipment because they cost too much and if we did carry the equipment it would only give you a code and tell you where the problem lies(well yes thats what i want), so we can take you to a garage.. Oh no that won't be of use to you it's a bank holiday".. bye.!! Crazy!!

I suppose its my fault for taking up the offer of breakdown assistance offered by my insurance company... Europ Assistance I won't be using again.

Both RAC and AA carry fairly comprehensive readers. But you haven't broken done (yet) - at worst, you are in limp...

Is the light permenently on, is it flashing, or has it gone back out?

The light is on permanent, lit up yesterday while driving, i tried it again this morning and is still lit while engine is running.... the car starts and runs normal thou.

Just a thought - My breakdown recovery service.. Do they carry this piece of kit with them and  able to give me the codes or at least tell me where the fault lies or advise me to take it to my dealer?

My 2001 omega has a engine icon(yellow) on the dashboard which lit up yesterday continuous >:(, looked in the owners manual and the reasons to why this has happened are very vaige and opt for the ' consult your main dealer'.

What it does say is - there is a a problem with emmissions or immobiliser and while the icon is lit a safety backup is in force and the car will not perform as it would normally do so don't use it for long periods.

Has anybody any further info on this or had the same problem.
I will take it to vauxhall on monday.. and i'm guessing it will cost alot of money to put right.. hope somebody can help.

just had a look ...there is one thick pipe running from the front to the bulk then i loose it(in the same place as the pic above.), if this is the pipe it seems to be ok well the part of the pipe i can see anyway..lol from the bulk onwards wow its tight to check, is there a test i can do or is it just a matter of looking/feeling for a split in the pipe?

..and at a 2001 2.6L FBW...

Hi Markjay, was wondering if you knew where the heater vacuum pipes were on a 2.6 2001 model, my heater turns cold, and some members indicate the pipe/s may be at fault.

regards Dave (not very good under the bonnet).
