You can see some from the road when driving past not sure it's these ones though, there have been vehicles stored there  for years used to be loads of Renaults there a few years back.

Being ex lease vehicles, they are being held back deliberately. True people aren't buying so many new cars, and used car prices are high at the moment.

Put it another way, if you owned twenty thousand of something, would you flood the market and drive prices across the whole market down? Or would you release them slowly in order to create demand by limiting supply and driving the market value up? Bear in mind that the largest leasing companies own/are owned by the auction companies. 

Be under no illusion, average quality Omegas are only going up in value because the market stock of cheap cars has reduced significantly not because the cars themselves are increasing in value.

There mere fact that they could be a year older by the time they are sold would devalue them quite a bit. Not so important when you're looking at the difference between an eight and nine year old car, but between a two and three year old, it can knock a fair bit off.

Equally the mileage won't be increasing, and because they're most likely pre mot, a quick once over, service and fresh MoT (if near enough to 3 years to justify it).

Factories haven't been producing as much new stock for various reasons, so there will be an increased demand for 'decent' low mileage nearly new stock once people start buying new again.

I was looking, this morning, at pre reg's, some of them MY2020 with ten miles on the clock. Twenty grand cars going for £13-£14K, so there's no real shortage.

The dealers selling them are still making money, even at that price.

The last 'new' car I bought was a pre reg Insignia with about twenty miles on it. £12,495. The cost of first registration gets written off as a deductible expense, and the dealer group still gets a couple of grand out of the deal

I never said the dealers weren't making money. I merely pointed out that there were lots of cars losing money whilst parked up on a race track, but you felt the need to complicate things.
