Omega General Help / 5/6 speed auto box
« on: 09 November 2018, 23:15:04 »
Apologies if this has been covered before but are there any newer eg 5/6speed auto boxes that will mate easily to the 2.6 v6. Current have a 2.6 v6 auto but the engine seems wasted on the 4 speed auto box. Loving the car bur not sure about the autobox!

I'm wanting to fit an aftermarket radio to my 03 2.2 dti cdx. Nothing wrong with original radio but I'd like one I can connect phone to for calls and play music through. Should I upgrade the speakers when Im at it? Also is it possible to swap the steering wheel for one that will control the phone and radio? If so what am I looking for and how big of a job is it?

Omega General Help / 1st diesel omega
« on: 09 January 2018, 11:31:00 »
Been looking for a work horse for a while now and after not finding anything that really interested me settled for another omega. This will be my fifth but my 1st diesel. It's a 2.2 cdx, 1 owner and on 100k. I know that the 2.2 engines are prone to problems, is there anything I can do to prolong the engine life? Also I will miss the Bluetooth phone option I have on the saab, has any1 had much luck installing similar to omega. Not really fussed on one those ugly parrot jobbies if I can avoid it! Don't mind changing the radio but I'd like to keep the display and steering wheel buttons working if possible??

Omega General Help / Odd misfire problem
« on: 28 October 2017, 21:19:36 »
Purchased a 3.2 elite recently that had a few problems. Was severely dodgy on the idle but on getting it home and having a good look discovered multiple split vacuum pipes and the plenum was nearly stuffed solid! Managed to get all sorted anyway and only problem I have now is misfire on 1,3 and 5. I've chaged both cam gaskets, new coil packs and new plugs. The only problem I can see is that some1 has broken the little clip on the connector which plugs into the 135 coil pack. Would this be enough to cause misfire and how the heck do I fix it??

General Discussion Area / Omega car cover??
« on: 25 September 2017, 07:11:21 »
Need to move one omega out of the garage to get another one in. Can anyone recommend a decent car cover or a link to where I can buy it would be great. I'd prefer some thing that I can tie underneath if possible rather than just the elasticated versions as it's fairly exposed where I live. Tia

Omega General Help / Hmmmmmmmmm, where does this go???
« on: 01 June 2017, 21:49:30 »
Finally gotten around to putting the 3.2 back together after swapping the heads out. I've more or less finished with just a few bits lefts to do but I've got a small pipe I can't figure out where it goes. 12mm black pipe which comes up from underneath the cabin along the top of the gearbox and is tied into the cables that comes up from there as well. No obvious bends in it and it doesn't seem to have had a clip to hold it in place but I just can't see anywhere to connect it. Obviously I'm showing my lack of mechanical expertise here, but easier to ask the experts than spend hrs trying to figure it out. Many thanks guys

So this is what I've opted for as my omega replacement. Had it 2 weeks now and the only fault I have with it is that it's not rear wheel drive. It's a 1.9 ttid, twin turbo pushing out 180bhp and serious torque. Nudge the loud pedal  and ur instantly over the ton and struggling to climb out from the rear seats.  Handles like a dream, loads of power and easy on fuel. I set the cruise at a steady 80 and it's returning over 50mpg. The omega was costing me £120/week for my commute, this costs me £60.

P.s hopefully someone can get the pics to come up properly. I've been trying for hrs!! >:(

General Car Chat / Any Saab owners/experts/enthusiasts on here?
« on: 31 October 2016, 18:57:29 »
Needed to change my omega as I'm now doing around 120 miles per day and it's breaking my heart and pocket to do it in my 2.6 omega. Been looking at diesels and wanted something comfy and easy on fuel. Had a good look around and finally settled on saab. Had my heart set on a 9-3 and had practically bought the 1.9 120bhp when I noticed the ttid models! Holy shit they look good! Still 1.9 diesel but with a twin turbo setup pushing out 180bhp and doing much the same mpg as the 120bhp (on paper anyway).
So I've gone and bought myself one and pick it up on Thursday.  I've heard some good reports about saab and I couldn't fault the motor myself but it's hard to find many people who've owned one. I'm wondering is there anything I need to look out for in them or are there any specific faults they have??? I'm hoping with the wealth of knowledge on here someone will be able to steer me right

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Dab head unit
« on: 16 September 2016, 11:44:09 »
I'm thinking of buying a dab radio for my cdx. Is there any specific models that are better/easier fitted than others? Do I need to change the aerial and will my steering wheel controls still work??

General Discussion Area / Oof courier service

I'm travelling from harrow to northern ireland via holyhead and dublin next saturday (3rd sept) if anyone needs anything moved. I'll be in a saloon omega so anything that fits is more than welcome. Can stop along the way and small detours shouldn't be a problem as it will break up the journey

General Car Chat / Omega replacement??
« on: 12 August 2016, 11:22:53 »
My brother has bought me 2.6 cd off me and I'm looking for something to replace it with. Starting a new site in Sept which will mean 100 miles per day travel. I dont mind the miles if I have omega level comfort and power. Been searching ebay and the trader and the only decent omegas are all auto's. Are the auto's much worse on fuel than manual and are there any decent alternatives. Ideally I'd prefer rwd, v6 or better and less than £1k.

Omega General Help / Starting trouble
« on: 19 June 2016, 12:03:42 »
Okay as some if you know I bought a 3.2 elite before Xmas that had done the aux belt in and was a none runner. It had slipped the timing a little as well but not much and no serious damage done. Anyway I've now got all the issues u could see fixed, timing is now set, new timing belt kit fitted, new aux belt and tensioner, new spark plugs and coil packs and everything back as it should. On turning the key however the engine is turning over as it should but it is not catching/starting. There are no fault codes coming up at all and I'm now struggling to find the problem. All help/advice much appreciated

Omega General Help / Air con query??
« on: 15 June 2016, 22:41:11 »
As some of you know I've been tinkering with a 3.2 elite that I bought cheap with possible cam belt problems. I've now got new cam belt fitted, new water pump, new aux belt and I'm in process of getting everything else back in place. My problem is that I had to remove the air con pump to clean the pulley properly. It's now refitted but I'm worried about what will happen once I start the motor. I'm assuming there will be no gas or coolant left in the air con system so do I need to get this sorted before I start the motor or what are my options?

All help much appreciated, sorry if this is a silly question.

General Car Chat / 4x4 options?? Advice pls
« on: 26 May 2016, 08:04:04 »
Currently looking for a 4x4. Don't know much about them to be honest so all opinions/advice much appreciated. I need something with good pulling power and plenty off road ability and a good ground clearance would help. Prefer pickup type body but I'm not tied to that. Reason I need it is that I've bought a small forest for firewood and I need something to pull the logs out.
I've driven discoveries before and was impressed with the off road ability but am concerned they might be troublesome and costly to repair.
Whatever I buy doesn't have to be roadworthy as it will be off road all the time so as long as it goes and isn't going to break my heart is all I'm after.
I've seen a few discoveries for around the £1500 mark that look good to me. I'm hoping to get something for less than 2k if possible.
As I said I don't know much about them so thought it best to ask the more knowledgeable on here.
