about to have power steering pump changed in the morning. has anybody any idea on how much oil it will need. :y :y
-
Does Haynes or the owners manual not say ???
-
I can't see it being more than 2 litres
-
Only Haynes I have is for the pfl/mfl cars, but would suppose steering system stayed the same in which case Haynes give a figure of 1.3 litres.

Pump and steering gear fundamentally the same across the range, so it's probably a fair estimate :y

i know there is a different size of power steering coolers, between the no tow bar and towbar fitted. as one for towbar seams to be wider. and 3 fins. had it changed on mine at the garage. £70 for new one.

Could be Albsiemers, but where is the PAS cooler ? Don't remember ever encountering such a thing. ???

I think the cooling is achieved by the pipes running across the front of the car infront of the radiator, I certainly didn't find a discrete oil cooler when I was changing my PAS pipes.
It took me less than a litre to refill the system, btw.

Yes I'd guess that the 1.3L figure is for a totally empty system to full. How much you'd lose changing the pump I don't know as I've never had to do one.

This...
It's no more complicated than it needs to be, although it can render the system prone to leaking from corrosion...
