Omega 2.2 estate exhaust manifold
« on: 19 September 2015, 18:43:48 »

I have a 2003 Omega 2.2 cdx estate and have just noticed a crack in the exhaust manifold,on the top.
Is this a hard job to remove/replace and do you need specialist tools.
I have also tried to source a second hand manifold and a new one with full manifold kit to no avail :'(.
Can any one help as my MOT is due and I want to keep the estate on the road. If any one has one or if any one knows where to buy one that would be great.
Any advice on how to remove or fit the new/second hand one would be greatly appreciated as I have never done a manifold before.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I had a crack in mine for couple of years, so passed 2 MOT's. I changed it for one off of one of Robs breakers while I was doing the head gasket. 3 of the studs snapped in the head even being very careful. Easy to fix with head off but potentially more of an issue with it on.

While mine had the crack it was fine once is warmed up - just blew when cold.

I second that! I used it as per instructions and it just formed a solid 'scab' & fell off after first run up to temperature  :o

I just can't imagine anything is going to 'stick' - even welding these only lasts a few miles.

Hello everyone just read up about the "quikseel" :( was thinking it may not stand up to the heat of the manifold so may give it a miss and use "thermosteel" it has a better resistance to heat (2400F). Would rather have new/second hand manifold, just may need to wait to save up for new or try and find a second hand one. :y. If anyone has one or knows where to get one other than rob at Nottingham (I will be trying there and other breakers tomorrow) I would be pleased to hear from you. :y
Thanks Gary
