Title: The shores of Normandy. Jim Radford.
Post by: Migv6 le Frog Fan on 28 May 2019, 12:24:50
Last Friday I sat in the car waiting for swmbo to come out of Sainsburys and this song came on the radio. I found it deeply moving, and actually had goosebumps.
A few minutes later the DJ said people were calling in to say they had to pull their cars & trucks over as their eyes were filed with tears.
Jim Radford is 90 years old and wrote this about his first trip as a 15 year old merchant seaman, which was the Normandy landings.

notice he sang this at the 70th DDay ceremony at the Royal Albert in 2014 too. Ive seen every one of the Remembrance Services, and every Cenotaph Parade since childhood (as I'd imagine most people have) but this didn't ring a bell, ashamedly, so glad to have had my memory refreshed. Thank you.
