Omega General Help / Re: Stand alone V6

Yes like I have, 3.2 physical engine with 3.0 intake, throttle, ecu etc as above.
Cant tell it from a 3.0 apart from the number on the block. Or if you take it apart.

But yes, 3.0 wiring, ecus and stuff would probably be a lot simpler than 3.2.

Just realised i tested the wrong lpg injector. Just checked three right one and it is dead. Did the spark plug kill the injector or vice versa?

Bad Injector causing lean conditing burning out the electrode on the spark plug? Just a guess.

What are trims, right now?

I would be so much wiser with that info but I cant see trims on it. Only judging by the O2 sensor info that is available.
So many times I wish I had fuel trim info... But apparently the car simply doesnt support it.

Any stored fault codes? in case its other related.

Nope, nothing pops up.

Omega General Help / Injector fault or what?

I got the occasional "no start on first try" fixed with a new fuel pump, looked like it was the original from factory even, just worn out.

Now with the new pump, I get occasional sputter under light load and looking at diagnostics it seems to be running rich everytime this sputter happens.
Never had this sputter issue before this new fuel pump.
Other than that, it works so much better now and no problems under WOT.

So some faulty injector or the 3bar pressure thingy on the fuel line faulty maybe?
I fitted a new fuel filter earlier this summer to try to cure the occasional no start so I dont think the filter could be bad this fast?

The recirculation switch is a bit different from the others and it doesn't have that V pattern style switch just like few others.

I really saw nothing wrong with the switch when I took it apart and I tried the switch from my spare car which didn't help either.

It doesnt need rust there to happen, I sold an Omega to a friend that had the top end come through with no visible rust at all and no previous repairs in that area or anything.

I don't know is this related to your problem, but at other forum there was a thread about Omegas air re-circulation problem, goes like this (free translate from finnish to english):

Omegas with air conditioning there might be a problem with programming on air con module, that causes air re-circulation to turn on when cold weather (about +5 C and under) and battery voltage drops below 9 V when starting the car. Air circulation indication lamp might not even light when this happens. This problem can cause inside of windscreen to mist or even frozen if cold enough.

This problem is caused by programming fault at air con module and it can be updated to get rid of problem, but also battery is not so good any more when this happens. Charging or replacing the battery might cure the problem for first aid.

Its not really the same issue I think as it has been happening all summer and the light is on everytime its on for me. Its just annoying to turn off when the button does nothing and you cant turn it on yourself in summer with AC.

39
Literally, it goes on whenever it feels like and only way to turn it off is by pressing Auto, the button itself doesnt seem to work at all.
What could cause this random behavior?

I hate modern rim sets as all 4 rims are the same width so I cant put 205 up in front or something... So have to run 245s in all corners on both my cars...

The uk  standard 3.2 has electronic throttle, different coil packs and no egr. All which make a difference to the ecu used?

You obviously swap those parts from the 3.0 on the 3.2.

I guess you could say you take the 3.2 long block and put the rest of the parts from the 3.0. So essentially a 3.2 on a 3.0 ECU.
But yeah you are kinda right, I wasn't specific enough heh.

The 3.2 engine itself on mine is from a 2004 Vectra.
And loom, and TCM (if auto), and reconfig ABS.  Not just a straight ECU swap ;)

The fuelling requirements between a 3.0 and 3.2 are reasonably similar, if you put in a bigger FPR, or let the trims drift to richen.

Well ok it's not an ECU swap because I have the 3.2 long block in my 3.0 Omega, if you want to be picky about it lol. So a long block swap!

I think what stige, is saying he has a 3.2 block, with 3.0L heads, etc in a 3.0L,

If he has the above in a 3.2, then he either has late 3.0L heads on with holes for coil packs, or has tapped holes for coil packs.
And the 3.0L ecu doesn't work in 3.2L as TB said it's the wiring, totally different, loom.

I'm almost sure the heads are 3.2, everything else is from the 3.0 except the long block.
This is long block:
Quote
Long block is an automotive term for an engine sub-assembly that consists of the assembled block, crankshaft, cylinder head, camshaft (usually), and valve train. A long block does not include fuel system, electrical, intake, and exhaust components, as well as other components (see below for a more complete list).
.

So in plain English, you've put a 3.2, into a 3.0L, and using 3.0L throttle bodies.

I thought it was plain english when I said long block  ;D

Omega General Help / Re: Running lean
« on: 30 August 2017, 13:55:40 »
 :-[

I think this lean issues was my own fault lol

The fuel tank was filled with mostly RE85, I ran it almost empty and filled some 98E5 and it runs much better now. So problem solved!  ;D
