Omega General Help / Re: Starting problems
« on: 03 June 2017, 19:39:16 »
I swapped the coil pack + spark plug wires from my spare car for the driver side that had the leak and zero problems so far, all stuttering seems gone. Havent had any start problems yet atleast.

It doesnt matter if its warm or cold, I think it even starts better after a night and this usually happens during usage.

Swapping the coil pack later today as I got stuttering when driving aswell, had oil in two spark plug holes, like full of it.. maybe it'll fix this too.

Omega General Help / Starting problems
« on: 02 June 2017, 06:55:29 »
I have this weird issue sometimes where I try to start the car but it just turns over, maybe coughs a few times. Then I can stop starting and try again and it starts instantly every time. It doesn't seem to matter how long the first start is, it always starts on the second try.

What might cause this? No fault codes or anything that obvious.

Omega General Help / Re: Headlight differences model year

Early type - 94-97 (practically never see them)
MFL type standard - 97-00 (on almost all PFLs you see)

How are they different?

Swapping whole loom would be first choice. Fiddly but easy enough to do engine in place... Should only need to go under the car for cat/box connections... Tie a bit of string to each plu to aid refitting the new loom.

Alternatively you can chop the plugs and solder the loom back together. ;)

Yeah I'm gonna go with the latter cause I only need the MAF and coil pack from the other car right now and got enough at hands with other cars. Soldering the plugs only takes some minutes and I had stolen a few plugs already from the old harness so more trouble than worth to swap it all at once.

Do the plugs on that match your parts stock?

Yes cause the basically new parts are from the donor car that I bought them for, and you must be thinking of swapping the whole loom out? But I would imagine that is a bit of a pita with the engine and tranny in the car? Would have been pretty easy to do while the engine was out I guess :(

Omega General Help / Re: Coolant loss

It might stop a leak, but it will bugger up the cooling system as a whole... I would wager that you sold the Rover very soon after :-X

I have also had similiar experience with said stuff, it did stop my radiator leaking but also started to cause overheating as it clogged it up aswell, new radiator fixed everything after.

98
Do you still have the loom from the original engine?

Yes.

It seems to be fixed with the throttle cable adjustment and giving it a nudge in the firewall.

Anyone done this? The 2 pin connectors are pretty easy to make fit regardless of round or square connectors but the 4 pin ones seem a bit more difficult.
As far as I'm aware, there is no real difference in the parts except the stupid connector and my current car has square connectors while I have several new Bosch parts laying around with round connectors like coil pack that could be a fix for my stuttering problems...

Ofcourse I'm insane for thinking of this etcetc but I'm more interested in if anyone else has done it.

Well optimal temp for performance is like 70C I think, so there is that?

Omega General Help / Re: AC clutch removal how?
« on: 24 May 2017, 17:13:07 »
Well everything solved and AC working like a charm now.

I checked the connector by using both the connectors on the plug but it never crossed my mind to check by grounding somewhere else until now.
And indeed the plug was getting power when AC was on but it had no ground on the second wire for some reason.

Also there is a weird resistor before the AC plug between the two wires, I will post a pic later once the upload service I use is working again...
EDIT:

Works with direct power now, only left to figure out why the connector has no power on it. All the relays seem to be fine but which one is it for me that runs the magnetic clutch? I cant seem to find any pics of the relay box that match mine, car is 1996 actually.

Wasn't sure of the relays which one is which even looking at the diagram as none of the layouts really match mine but I know now what to test now. Thanks.

Off to see how much a pita it is to swap the clutch with the compressor in the car.
