Welcome to OOF.

And nahhhh! No trouble at all. Only trouble in the sense that if you ignore things/jobs you're supposed to do, then evebntually they'll bite you in the posterior. But I don't know of any walk of life where that's not true.

You've not got the highest-spec model (well, basically it's the base model, there were others called 'Select' and 'Reflection' at certain times, but aside from them) so in time you may wish to get some little niceties and extras fitted.

Also you've got the rarer pre-facelift, like mine, which many would say is a better looking car. (I own both, and I say PFL all the way  :))

Get a Haynes manual, look up what needs servicing/what's due, throw up any maladies the car may have, or question you do have, and feel very welcome!  :y

Hi, Welcome to the OOF.  :y

Yes it's a little basic but it still feels quality, it;s got a full dealer history and has only 45000 on it verified by the MOT's and a vehicle check I had done plus I gave £995 for it I just could,nt walk away. :P

I mentioned in a post a while ago that in a few years, when there are hardly any Omegas left - the only ones still around that people have kept will be the top-spec Elites and MV6s (which originally only made up a few % or production) however, it's the cars like your that made up the vast majority of production (and made Vauxhall/Opel their money) and deserve to be saved. Get some pictures up if you can, in the Gallery section  :y

The 2.0 is pretty robust, if somewhat underpowered.

There are a few things that need cleaning reasonably regularly, such as the throttle body. And fresh oil every 3k will do it wonders.

Tendency for HG to fail at about 150k, but not that common.  OOF members can offer better advise than any garage or mechanic :y

Had a 1997 2.0 GLS for 12 years and it never let me down, used it every day for work and did around 300 miles a week, regular servicing and cambelts at the specified timings kept it running reliably and when I sold it at 198.000 miles the first person that came to buy it didn't even test drive it....just paid the asking price and drove off.So yes a bit down on the power side, but a reliable old plodder that will give you years of good service as long as you give it what it needs :y
