Wouldn't a second battery in the boot be easier to use for powering extra's like laptops, seen this done before maybe worth a look atleast then the drain wouldnt be from the engine battery but the one in the boot.

You hear of audio equipment connected, why not power points for 3pin plug or ciggy lighter connectors

Just my tuppence worth :y
That works well when you want to power things when the car is off.  Unless you are going to charge that battery every night from mains, then ultimately the power comes from the alternator.  Nothing tunnie is talking about is that much of a drain.

However, you have reminded me of one thing that can be extremely useful; a boost pack for jump starting.  It is a battery in a plastic case with jump leads.  Many of them also have a lighter socket.  These can be very useful on long trips as a safety measure.  They also have their own mains charger.

Ahhh gotcha was just an Idea :y

It wouldn't be the way the Iso connector goes into the adaptor perhaps some wires are mixed up being that its from ebay perhaps it was fitted to another car and the wiring has been moved.

Hi Guys

2. Is it normal for them to wobble a little when you go over a pot hole?

Any advice would be appreciated, just a bit concerned, I cant see anything happening, after having full control on my pre facelift gls.

Am I right to think you now have xenons but they wobble well worth checking to see if the lower piece of the silver insert moves it could be the motor has become unclipped causing it to flop about.

I should think they are a similar design across the board but obviously yours are self adjusting.

For all bluetooth users, remember the phone still has to be in a cradle - that applies to BT kits, and BT handsets.  The law implies all handheld electronically operated equipment must be fixed.  The fact that its 'handsfree' is not enough.  A collegue fell foul of that one...

Wow never knew of this i was thinking of eventually buying myself one of those Pioneer Bluetooth headunits and just put the phone in the middle, still just a thought for the moment.

Seems to be age dependent, they are not on very early cars or the very late ones (which had rain sensitive wipers as an option)

This is what I thought would you say it would be possible to fit the wiper stalk with the roller on into a 94M cd only be good to have it. I have the stalk alreadyh so I guess it would be a case of adjusting thw wiring somehow.

I suspect you will find an unused pin in the relay holder and the wiper stalk with the wire there (its the sort of connection that is likely to be standard fit in the loom)

I am not sure if it would be standard as I have tried just fitting the talk before and the connector on the extra piece of loom on the stalk is different. May need cut/splice to fit.

Could it be possible there be a spare piece of loom with a different connector somewher behind there.

Just checked the relay in the 98 estate....its the same part code and colour as my 2000 facelift.

Have now checked the early, late and 2004 schematics and they all sudgest that it will work.

8-) sounds as though it maybe doable shall have alook at the weekend cheers mark :y

If the above is still true for the early models (I dont see why not) then you should again simply need the stalk and relay assuming you already have an intermittent setting on the wipers.

The current wiper stalk on the 94M doesn't have the intermittent but shall take another look maybe able to retrofit, shall also check to see if the relay is similar to mine in the 97P omega.

Might be lucky with regards the relay.

Cheers  :y

Following onto this is it possible to add the variable intermittent wipe to a 94M as I have the stalk but the additional connector is different.

Would I be right in thinking the wiring would need adjusting and a new relay fitted.

Cheers in advance for any responses.  :)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Central locking
« on: 24 October 2006, 12:27:28 »
Checking the lock mechanism and central locking servo on the pre facelift are easy its just a case of removing the door card and then access is plenty.

Not really worth spending out to have a garage rip you off imo when it can be done DIY style saving the labour costs.

The pre facelift door cards are pretty straight forward to remove once off its a case of disconnecting the rod from the inside handle the door button remove the motor, which from memory is held in by 2 screws and then it just unhooks and then remove the Lock mechanism cover its just clipped in place then when you lower the lock mechanism itself which is held in pace by 3 star screws on the door edge, the outside door handle bar comes away, then remove the lock mechanism from the door.

The above free's up the lock for repairs if needed, I found mine seemed to be jamming and was in need of some wd40 the CL motor have a tendancy of snapping inside the rubber sleeve but it sounds as though yours is ok.

HTH

I know about this error but do you know if its safe to have the dash placed in without the MID would you have problems if MID was removed.

Currently looking for a good replacement and tempted to remove it for the time being.
That is not a problem...

Remember your replacement has to come off car with same config (or get mid reprogrammed)

Cheers TheBoy are you able to programme them If I can get a good replacement?

Yup, alas I have to charge a small fee to recoup some Tech2 costs.  A price list will be going up on this site soon...

Thats fair enough shall pm you nearer the time. Cheers  :y

With instrument panel out, do not turn on ignition - it seems sometimes this causes the airbag light to come on...

All the ones I've seen have power sounder and horn mounted near each other under scuttle....

Having looked at the 94M omega it only has a Horn connector and nothing for a powersounder, so I guess I need to get myself an alarm horn for my car now as mine has the connector for both.

Cheers for the confirmation TheBoy  :y
