Poor lights!
« on: 13 January 2008, 19:02:09 »

I am relatively new to the Omega, but absolutely love it! I've got a '99 v6 (non facelift CD). I find the lights at night really poor particularly on dipped beam. Is there a cheapish option to change bulbs? Many thanks

Try the bulb change first.if you still not happy change the lamps for 98 model year on projectors with the clear lens.THERE To types of clear lens lights avalible  non Hids or xenon hids but the latter need auto leveling systems and washers to be legal. go for the  non hids and put your uprated bulbs into them for the best results.

They all do that I'm afraid. My 98 CDX with projectors was totally crap. I put the Philips 50% brighter jobbies in which made them merely very poor. You wont get much better than that I'm afraid.

HIDs are also poor, same useless lens system with a HID behind it. my facelift Elite has HIDs and they are about the same as my old CDX with the philips bulbs in.

How they could get away with such a poor design for so long is beyond me , not a lot you can do other than the brighter bulbs.

I dont find the HIDs poor or projectors that bad. Earlier type not so good.

Key is a good clean lens (wet and dry, then polish).

Probably the best (legal) lights I've ever had on a car..

I have up graded to projectors and they are a vast improvment on std lights, and with the new night breaker bulbs that i have ordered they should be even better. :y
