General Car Chat / Re: Insurance renewal .
« on: 26 March 2024, 07:59:17 »
There are certain insurance companies that are refusing to insure anyone over 70 now. Or quoting such a ridiculously high price that they know won't be accepted.

My Dad is 87 next, rand LV today for a quote & they have refused to insure him. Not sure who he's insured with at the moment, but they've quoted him £1720 for his Chrysler Grande Voyager!  :o :o

The very young and the very old are always given a kicking when it comes to insurance.

indeed  :(

some of the youngsters at work pay some pretty eye watering premiums .... they must be getting paid too much!  ;D

Yep, nice looking car.

It will be interesting to see how you get on with it over time.

What headlights do you have? I am unimpressed withmy bi xenons. I guess LEDs are the go to now.

It's got Bi-xenons that go round corners for some reason, How I've managed all these years going round corners I don't know..

The DS had them in the 70s  ;)

I think it was mid 50s that the DS got them !
without Googling it .... I thought the swivel headlight DSs came with the later larger DS21 type double headlight .... earlier DSs had a single round headlight.

You won't miss the heated steering wheel if you grew up with ice on the inside of the windows like I did. ;)

I like the heated steering wheel on my ML despite having grown up with ice on the inside of my bedroom windows  ;) ;)

even had an outside toilet till I was 7  ;)

What newspaper did you wipe your arse on? ;)

Merc drivers. All of them. Retards.

I can only assume the stupid handbrake pedal confuddles their drivers.  Not seen a single Merc get over 25mph in NSL all day, FFS.

Not guilty either ... I was in Lanzarote!
And I don't use my (leccy) hand/parking brake!  :P

General Car Chat / Re: Tesco pay at pump
« on: 21 March 2024, 13:25:23 »
On the upside, Tesco Pay at Pump is now £120 :y
Indeed. When fuel was at its highest price, £100 wasn't much more than 1/2 a tank on the ML (93 litre tank so when I'd wanted a full tank I tried a 2nd fill at the same pump .... it wouldn't let me.
I did email Tesco to ask them when they were going to raise the limit in line with Costco. I just got a standard automated reply.

Just used one of their new touch screen fuel pumps.
Am I imagining it or ... on the old pumps if you just put your debit/credit card in, that the machine just registered the fact that you were going to pay at the pump or did you HAVE to choose pay cashier or pay at pump.

Woman cashier said you had to choose  ..... I said you didn't  :-\ :-\  ::)
