Went to get the aircon vacuumed out and filled up.
Its had a little leak for a while but this time I decided to ask him to get the UV light out.

Okay, i've got spots of dye on the condenser and also the pressure switch on the pump.

How much and from where is the best place to get a condenser from ?

Also is the pump pressure switch fixable of do I have to replace the pump ?

Never bothered buying from them in the the end, I had a distinct case of CBA and took it to my local Vauxhall specialist. Just told them to fit a new condenser and get the aircon working.

There isn't a pressure switch on the compressor, the only electrical connection is to the clutch coil. You can get some slight leak from the dowty washers on the compressor (it may be this that's showing)

Can the seal on the pressure be replaced ?


Iirc, Broocie did all his seals a few years ago

I purchased a pack of various rubber seals a while ago so if i'm going to do the job, best sort everything out together

Probably nitryl washers  as its resistant to pretty much anything

where cheap rubber would dissolve when it touches oils corrosive gas

GM part code is:

52455752 (being yank they are a 5/8 dowty type seal) - 2 off

Should be available pretty much anywhere, Dowty type seals are usually Nitrile as they are a high pressure seal designed for hydraulics

I should add, for completeness, the pressure switches are in the metal hoses (high and low pressure switches in high and low pressure lines)

Well that was 18 months go, so probably a small leak somewhere else.

Which if they've dyed it the first time, the leak will be easily identified now

How do you know you they did not dye it? 

There was dye in the system, bright green stuff around the cap of the HP valve. But as well all know the dye is utterly useless in actually diagnosing a leak, as always on the Omega the compressor is covered in crap and dye, the old 3.0 estate had green dye all over the place, yet the air-con never failed.

Recall your MV6 needing a yearly re-gas, I suspect this will be the same.

At the end of the day, all omegas are getting long in the tooth now and will have tiny leaks pretty much everywhere 

We can either put up with paying 40 quid ish a year and hope it gets us through the summer OR replace all the seals then if its still leaking, look more closely at the larger components.
