Omega General Help / Misfire
« on: 03 February 2018, 17:08:51 »
Over the last couple of weeks our 2.2 diesel omega (2002) has become un-driveable and the exhaust emission light has come on. This is only when my wife has been driving it so she has lost confidence in the car she called the AA the first time it played up she said it would not start at all I got to the car before the AA and was able to drive it the mile home but the AA still came to our home  and checked for fault codes which there were done.

It ran fine when I was driving blamed her driving but it finally did it when I was driving it misfired a couple of time the warning light came on for a few seconds then it seemed to settle down again drove fine.

What could be causing the problem?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Relays
« on: 01 January 2016, 10:55:57 »
Does anyone know what the relays do in the footwell by the fuse box.

The relay is the white one on lowest corner there are 6 relays all together.

The relay was buzzing and the interior light was staying on.

We have removed the relay and everything seem to work ok.

I have tried a replacement relay but that does the same also tried another headlamp light switch.

Probably just leave it alone now as seem to work ok just want to know what the relay does.

Omega General Help / Keys
« on: 27 October 2015, 21:36:09 »
We have 2 keys for our omega.

One of the keys the buttons no longer works it had a new battery but the part that hold the battery is no longer attached to the circuit broad.

On our transit I can get a new key fob of eBay and just program what can I do with getting a new key to replace the one on the omega.

At the moment I have to open the door with the key then shove the key in the ignition to shut the alarm some one must thing we are trying to steal the car.

Omega General Help / Shock Absorbers
« on: 20 February 2014, 18:39:25 »
Is there any issues with changing the front springs and shocks absorbers.

The front end is very twitchy and its gone though a set of tyres in 6,000 miles.

I also want to swop the rear shocks at the same time.

Omega General Help / Front Suspension
« on: 09 March 2013, 16:55:12 »
The front suspension on Omega is low sometimes the mud flaps catch the road if we are on a bumpy section of road.

Has anyone replaced the front springs and shocks and if so as it raised the front suspension.

Omega General Help / Heater
« on: 05 February 2013, 15:56:41 »
This is Rays wife, I've been driving the Omega today. It has a Diesel heater to heat up the coolant but seems to make too much smoke. People keep stopping us, flashing their lights to tell us that the engine is smoking. When I got out today I had to stand by the car until it stopped smoking in case someone decided to call the fire brigade. Can the Diesel heater just be disconnected or will it affect the running of the vehicle as it is now becoming quite a problem.
Thanks, Jackie :(

Omega General Help / Headlamps
« on: 06 January 2013, 10:18:30 »
What are our options with increasing the brightness of our headlamp on dip.

Looked into replacing the bulbs but not sure if that will make a difference I did think they may be Xenon but looking at the price glad they are not.

I drive a transit most of the time and the headlamps on that a so much better.

Is it a new headlamp or can the reflectors be cleaned.

Look forward to your replies.

Omega General Help / Head gasket
« on: 30 September 2012, 09:22:52 »
We know someone who has an 02 plate Vauxhall omega 2.2 diesel he has had it from new and its been well looked after just over 100.000 miles that he says the head gasket has gone and he is going to send it too the breakers but he has offered to us for what he will get for it at the breakers.

To tell the truth I am not sure of the why he thinks the head gasket has gone whether the oil and coolant are mixing or the coolant sytem is over pressuring.

He took the car to the main vauxhall dealer and they told him that the head gasket has gone.

So the question is if the oil is mixing with the coolant and that the only symptom could it be the oil cooler but if it is the head gasket are these a problem to do does the the head need a skim amd new head blocks etc

Is lifting the head on these a pig to do.

Is it possible as well to get a workshop manuel for these car.

Look forward to your replys.
