Title: Fuel problem

Hi everyone,just returned from holiday and the car wouldn't start seemed like a fuel issue and sure enough I could see petrol dripping on to the floor.Just had a look this morning and when turning car over it seems to be leaking next to the fuel filter there is a join/coupling with a blue pipe and it looks like a green O ring has split or come out.So how to get it apart and where to get a replacement/part nos.Any help much appreciated!!!!! 2.6 saloon

Had some lunch and another look and it's the fuel filter has split somehow and fairly gushing out under pressure.It's a Mann one in case anyone is interested and can't see a reason.Any recommended ones and should I replace the clips as well?

most filters come with the plastic clips that go into the hoses either side
the green split ring is just plastic and not a seal IIRC
there is a special fuel line removal tool,(you need to squeeze the tabs both sides)

you can get away without them but it makes the job much less of a faf
the filters do split and rust if old ,something that many people ignore when doing a service

I've gone GM, as it goes, however I'm fairly sure other makes would be fine. And certainly the likes of Mann are a top quality make, so wouldnt have any hesitation fitting another one of them, if I found one cheap.

Double check with Keith ABS if he has any kicking around.   :)

GM or other what ?
fuel filter ?
your local car parts factor will supply one
you could possibly even get it from halfords or the like , but they tend to be expensive

Yes, like what I had, never changed it until it was so bad corroded and started to leak.

Halfords filter comes with clips.

I tend to use GM, based on the fact they are cheap (on TC) and delivered for free.  GM ones don't come with any clips, and as the clips become brittle with age, I always ensure I have a spare set just in case.  Although I've only ever broken a couple.
