Drove a brand spankers Renault in 2013, I'd avoid another one at all costs. What a horrible place to be, plastics cheap and nasty. Felt like a disposable car, only good for a few years. Not built to last.
It did have a few gadgets, but you can't polish a turd.

Newish, reliable, frugal, no tax, low insurance, loads of toys........it'll do.

Low status....for a headmistress. :D ;)

It must be a Southern thing, where peoples status is judged by the car they drive, sad really................ ::) ::)

I'm glad I drive a high status car like a 12 year old Vauxhall........ ;D

You're letting economics get in the way of the need for new shiny things. ;)

After further investigation, I think I'm going to try and steer her in the direction of a Hyundai i30 1.6 diesel.

Does her mileage warrant a 'soot chucker' ?   ;)

Edit : Just re-read your first message in this thread.......maybe the mileage does justify it!  :-[

10k a year? Not sure that is enough, to be honest.

Trouble is it will need a good run every now and again to keep the DPF working, and not clogging up!
10k a year at 40mph will do you no good!

As a side issue, does anyone else recon that within the next couple of years those in charge are going to start hammering 'soot chuckers', for their alleged carcinogenic output?

I hear what you're saying about the DPF, but some cars seem to suffer more than others. My neighbour doesn't do long runs, yet it seems to regenerate just fine.

As an aside, I have a way around the DPF issue  :-X

It's already happening. Residents in Islington who have allocated car parking spaces  are being charged an extra £100 P/A by the council to park their derv drinker.

Ten years ago diesels were ready to save the planet. Now they are the 'spawn of Satan' :D ;D......Don't do it Steve.

Diesel is for lorries and buses. :y
