It was registered Nov 2007 1 owner full history now on 87,000 miles 3.6 V8 twin turbo , never even considered a Land Rover but after seeing & driving this had to have it
It's an HSE so got everything apart from a television.

You can much more easily upgrade the stereo in the pre-facelift interior, I believe.. not many options for mine (2010, facelifted interior) beyond retro-fitting 2012/13 gear or the single Android option, both of which are (very) expensive.

Yes I know have got one my pal had his Defender pinched last year & his had a disclock & tracker made a right mess of it, now got a Ford Ranger Truck no comparison in my opinion but he seems happy with it.

I should have been clearer: if you fit an additional lock every time you leave the car, then it's causing more inconvenience to you than any possible thief. And if you don't use it every time, you might as well not bother at all.

Have always fitted an extra lock on every 4x4 I've owned so doesn't really cause me any bother but I know fully well it can still go I'm under no illusions whatsoever if it gets nicked I'm insured , an inconvenience yes but would it change my life ? It's just a car.

No problems, I am probably more security conscious than the average person because of my job (HMPS) but these people ( thieving bastards) who like to steal hardworking honest people's property are getting cleverer all the time , shame to see it nicked & broken for parts but I well realise what could happen.😎

Yes TB it is & what an engine indeed it's a Ford V8 twin turbo doesn't sound like a diesel & roars like a proper V8
never ever thought about a Range Rover but drove this & just had to have it , most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven , and by the by glad to be back.😎

As a proper full fat RR doesn't fit too well on my drive (awkward rather than too big), I might consider a RRS instead, so will follow your threads with interest .  I had set my heart on a FFRR to scratch that itch, but needs must.

Not one bit , I managed to get a 2007 sales brochure  from eBay they came with a sports exhaust system as standard and sound superb, the TDV8 is only 1.5 seconds slower in the 0-60mph sprint than the  5.0 petrol supercharged version, so quite a fast vehicle considering it weigh 2.7 tons.

Sounds more like a v8 than a Transit though. Chap a couple of doors down has one and seems to like it

That's why they beefed them up to 4.4l, which is allegedly better on fuel, and significantly more powerful.

The extra brings it up to the Merc lump. Also it should be better on fuel because the L308 is lighter than the previous efforts.

Did a lot of reading up on the engines used in Range Rovers very little praise for the 4.4 the 2.7 should be avoided as considered underpowered , 5.0 supercharged superb but will struggle to achieve 15mpg the best is considered to be the 3.6 twin turbo capable of between 19-31mpg & bags of torque. My pal at work has had his remapped ,but I don't think I would bother I'm old school , like my vehicles completely as they left the production line that's what attracted me to this one completely stock.

It's the first thing I look at when considering a car purchase , gives a good insight to see if a car has been looked after.

Another good indicator is low owners and higher mileage as they suggest a reliable, well maintained car, especially with a reasonable level of care.

Only downside is that higher mileage generally means higher trim wear, which is where certain brands fall over

I always said that I wouldn't by a Land Rover but after driving this one had to have it if you can just try driving one.

Tbh I didn't see anything overly scary with the MOT history, oil is a consumable after all. 

I am 100% with you on the wheels, but chances are if you opted to buy some standard second hand rims the first time you needed to swap the tyres, you'd probably make a bit selling those awful items. Or at least pay for the refurb on their replacements.

I heard all sorts of nonsense about fuel consumption & prices of parts etc. Obviously some repairs will be pricey for example turbo replacements but go into ownership with that knowledge and by using preventive maintenance (change the oil every six months) you might even avoid that problem , my RR is going in Monday for a "once-over" by a colleagues husband who is a LR technician before I start towing the caravan in a couple of weeks, if he finds anything that needs attention it will be attended to asap.

Parts prices don't honestly seem too bad - I mean, a genuine alternator was £600, but that seems par for the course these days (BMW wanted the same for the 645ci; a £50 regulator fixed it instead) but the Denso (OE brand, not LR badged) was £280!

I got a quote for doing a front wheel bearing (quality bearing, not Chinese) and that was £280 inc. labour at a local indy .. at that price I'm tempted not to bother doing it myself although I still might, just for shits & giggles and because I'm a glutton for punishment..

Yeah, I did check out the manuals - there's an SST for pushing the axle out and pulling it back in, although write-ups say you can get away with a standard three-legged puller.. doesn't seem a hard job, really and a damn sight easier than an Omega rear (I know, Nick will be along to tell me he does Omega rear bearings in five minutes at the roadside with nothing but a tool he made out of cardboard and sticky-backed plastic, soon )

Changing oil & filters is about my limit I'm afraid , getting too old to be messing about with cars now so will leave it all up to this guy that comes highly recommended, be interested to see what he thinks of it on Monday.
