I looked up the facts about that Rover 75, and was surprised it was only produced over just 7 years.  I was also shocked to read it is considered as Rover's brands  "best models"!!   It has also a strong following on Rover Clubs

I rather liked them, but they were too much money for something that didn't have a BMW, Merc or Audi badge. 

There was also a very small number produced with the same 4.6l V8 that was in the P38 FFRR of the day. Quite an undertaking when you consider that all other variants of the car were FWD!

why shocked? They're just what a 90s Rover should be, and are excellent cars as a result. A manual, 1.8t 75 estate is top of my list as an Omega replacement as it ticks the same list of requirements that the Omega did 10 years ago. I don't like the MGs because of their ugly cheap interiors and uncomfortable suspensions. V6s don't add enough to the turbo 4 pot to be worth the large increase in running costs.

Yes, the one we had was shod with 18" very low profiles, £180 a corner even back then. And it ate the front ones in 10,000 miles. It was quite quick, but not as quick as the rover 623Sli we had with the 2.3 Honda engine. That was really torquey.

Exactly my experience. A mate of mine had one. Sounded fantastic. Couldn't pull the skin off a wet rice pudding*.


* -  not strictly true, but if I was going for V8 running costs I'd want a lot more go in return.

it's just the base spec 260hp 4.6 Ford used in everything. After measuring the output on the same dyno that rated a 3.0l Essex at 138hp . It sounds better than it is. Although the Rover has got to weigh less than a Mustang....
